Synopsis: The drama is based on legendary fund manager Hatano Sho’s novel “Megabank Giga Battle”.
Directed by the Financial Services Agency, Teito Bank merges with Tozai Bank and EFG Bank, thereby creating the megabank Tozai Teito EFG Bank (TEFG) with Teito Bank as its core. After the merger, the staff members from Teito Bank take control. The hierarchy among people from different banks remains entrenched in the megabank.Among the staff, there is a crafty dealer named Katsura Mitsuyoshi (Shiina Kippei). And while he is not from Teito Bank, his abilities are recognized by the superiors, hence he is promoted to the managing director of the Exchange Department.
On the other hand, there is a staff member named Nihei Shohei (Kiritani Kenta) who is from the predecessor of EFG Bank, Meikyo Bank, and works in the general affairs department. Though he is “at the bottom of the TEFG”, he refuses to submit himself to this hierarchy and focuses his energies on work instead.
One day, the top executives of the TEFG have a confidential talk with the bureaucrats of the Financial Services Agency, who then settled to buy super-long-term government bonds. And out of nowhere, and at an unfortunate timing, the Japanese government bonds plunge, making the TEFG suddenly falls into the crisis of bankruptcy.
To make the TEFG financially viable again, Katsura and Nihei join forces to fend off against foreign fund holders which attempt to purchase the TEFG and the conspirators among the bureaucracy.
What fate awaits Katsura and Nihei who are going to challenge their biggest gamble of all time!?
