Music Station to Hold 2-Hour Special Tonight Before Time Slot Change, Including a Namie Amuro Retrospective

Last month, TV Asahi announced that their long-running music program Music Station will be moved to a later time slot starting in October.

More than 1,600 artists have appeared on Music Station since the program began broadcast in 1986. For its final episode before the format change with its shift in time slot, tonight’s 2-hour special will take a look back at the past 33 years of performances with rare footage.

A ranking of the first appearance by top artists will be unveiled, as selected from a questionnaire of 1000 people.

Additionally, Music Station will devote a portion of the special to Namie Amuro, who retired from the entertainment industry nearly a year ago. They will take a look all the way back to her first appearance on the program in 1995 through her journey towards becoming a leading artist in Japan in following years.

Ten acts are schedule to give performances in the studio.
