Japan Box Office Ranking (Week of July 4 – 5)

There is a new number 1 at the box office this week. Screening in a massive 774 screens, Avengers: Age Ultron dominates the chart and records the best opening weekend for a film in Japan this year. Love Live! The School Idol Movie gets a strong number 2 for its 4th week. Aside from the new Avengers movie, 2 other new films made it to the top 10.

The sequel to the worldwide blockbuster movie “The Avengers”, comes Avengers : Age of Ultron. Published in 774 screens (375 subbed/ 399 dubbed), the movie pulled over 505,521 people and nearly reached 800 million yen, grabbing the top spot. The movie records the best opening results for 2015.

Love Live! The School Idol Movie retreated to second place in its fourth week, mobilizing 150,488 people and earning 215,686,100 yen. It already topped one million audience and can soon reach 1.5 billion yen.

Shaun the Sheep movie is off to a good start by opening at the 3rd place. Published in 145 screens, the movie attracted 93,592 people and earned 112,804,700 yen. In sixth place is Sore Ike! Anpanman: Mija to Mahou no Lamp. Former AKB48 member Oshima Yuko served as voice actor for the movie. The movie is published in 145 screens and mobilized 70,642 people and earned 85,113,700 yen.
