Music Station to Hold 2-Hour Special Tonight Before Time Slot Change, Including a Namie Amuro Retrospective

Last month, TV Asahi announced that their long-running music program Music Station will be moved to a later time slot starting in October.

More than 1,600 artists have appeared on Music Station since the program began broadcast in 1986. For its final episode before the format change with its shift in time slot, tonight’s 2-hour special will take a look back at the past 33 years of performances with rare footage.

A ranking of the first appearance by top artists will be unveiled, as selected from a questionnaire of 1000 people.

Japan’s National Day Association rejects “Namie Amuro Day” holiday

On September 16th, 2018 Namie Amuro officially retired from the entertainment industry, and the world has never been the same! In honor of this locals in the city of Ginowan, located in Okinawa, attempted to officially make September 16th “Namie Amuro Day“.

The day is officially recognized by the cities tourism board, but they wanted to take it to the next level by sending an application to the Japanese National Day Association. The notion for this whole thing was also approved by Namie herself.

LDH group GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE is back with a brand new single. “EXPerience Greatness” is the groups 21st single overall, and serves as the third and final release of a 3-month consecutive release project for the group.

The single will be released physically and digitally on September 25th 2019, and will be available in the standard CD only and CD+DVD editions. Both versions will include the b-side “SNAKE PIT”, which was used as one of the insert songs for the film “HiGH&LOW THE WORST

Official HIGE DANdism to release New Album “Traveler” in October

Pop/rock band Official HIGE DANdism have announced that they will be releasing a new album titled “Traveler” on October 9th. This will be the group’s first longplay since last year’s “Escaparade” and their first since signing up with major label Pony Canyon.

“Traveler” will include the band’s hit song “Pretender”, plus other previously released tracks “Stand By You”, “FIRE GROUND”, “Bad For Me”, “Amazing”, and “Shukumei”, as well as eight new songs for a total of 14. The album’s Limited Edition will include a DVD/Blu-ray which contains footage from the quartet’s January 2019 concert at NHK Hall.

Nothing’s Carved In Stone smile for the camera in their PV for “Blow It Up”

Alternative rockers Nothing’s Carved In Stone will be releasing their 10th album “By Your Side” on September 25th. Though they’ve already released a music video for opener “Who Is“, the group have now chosen to publish a second PV for lead track “Blow It Up”.

This video focuses on a rather stoic performance of the song by the band as cameras seek to capture their image. These shots are set against the story of a single female actress as her resolve gradually grows.

Asako Toki opines on the value of beauty in her PV for “Utsukushii Kao”

Last month we reported that pop/jazz singer Asako Toki would be releasing a new album titled “PASSION BLUE” on October 2nd. Today Toki released the record’s lead track “Utsukushii Kao” as a digital single – and uploaded a pairing PV to her YouTube channel.

Directed by videographer Kensaku Kakimoto, the video explores the idea of what beauty will be worth a century from now. Performers that feature on the track include its composer Tomi Yo (Piano), Masato Ishinari (G), Shotaro Tamaki (B), and Ippei Sawamura (Dr / SANABAGUN).

Unicorn reveal all of the details about their New Album “UC100W”

Rock quintet Unicorn are gearing up to release a new studio album on October 2nd. Titled “UC100W”, this will be the group’s 16th album together and their second this year, following March’s “UC100V”.

“UC100W” will include an album version of the group’s recently released single “Denden”, as well as ten new songs for a total of 11. The record’s Limited Edition will come packaged with a DVD which contains a documentary chronicling their last album’s recording process.
