Japan Box Office Ranking (Week of May 2 – 3)

Hello readers! Check out the latest box office ranking, which due to the Golden Week holidays, was a bit delayed. The top 3 of the charts remained the same, with Cinderella scoring huge during the holidays. New movie Biri Gal debuted at number 4.

Golden Week was blessed with good weather, and during the holidays, Disney’s Cinderella ranked first for its second consecutive week. The movie mobilized 386,129 people in the 2- day weekend, recording a gross of 511,950,079 Yen (4,274,271 USD). The totals for the movie is at 2.9 billion yen and 2.3 million admissions.

Unchanged from last week, Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno and Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F remained strong on the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.  Detective Conan has mobilized for 19 days a total of 2,820,000 viewers / 3,500,000,000 Yen (29,221,500 USD) while Dragon Ball Z mobilized 2,364,976 viewers / 3,112,924,000 Yen (25,989,802 USD). Crayon Shin-chan: My Moving Story! Cactus Large Attack! maintained its 5th place.

New movie Biri Gal starring Arimura Kasumi was published in 285 screns and mobilized a total of  224,845 people on its opening weekend and earned 285,113,000 Yen (2,380,408 USD), gaining the 4th rank. Total gross of 1.5 billion yen is almost a certainty, while a total gross of 2 billion  yen will depend on the movie’s performance post Golden Week

Focus was published in 234 screens. Will Smith plays a genius swindler in the movie. Focus debuted at the 9th position, mobilizing 59,465 viewers / 81,051,800 Yen (676,701 USD).

Popular anime Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito 3 ranked no. 10, mobilizing 35,910 people, showing very high occupancy rate at 36 screens.
