Johnny’s React to SMAP Disbandment Rumor

The idols of Johnny & Associates are active in many different fields, including hosting television shows. With the rumor that SMAP had disbanded after 25 years being the big story of the day, 4 Johnny’s were put on the spot on today’s morning news shows.

TOKIO’s Kokubun Taichi hosts TBS’s “Hakunetsu Live Vivit.” When the SMAP news was brought up today, he said that he saw the newspapers this morning and was frankly surprised by the news. He continued, saying that none of the members of SMAP had said anything to him personally yet, therefore he couldn’t say anything more. There was similar gossip around the time of last year’s Kohaku Uta Gassen, but he didn’t feel it from the SMAP members, so this rumor came as a surprise to him.

TOKIO’s Yamaguchi Tatsuya is a host on Nippon TV’s “ZIP!” on Mondays and Wednesdays. The SMAP story was brought up 3 times during the show, but he did not comment on it. The news of SMAP was a constant on the show’s scrolling ticker during today’s episode.

Nagase Tomoya of TOKIO was on Fuji TV’s “Mezamashi TV” today doing promotion for his new Fuji TV drama “Fragile”, which debuts tonight. He did not speak on the SMAP rumor.

Also keeping quiet on the subject was V6’s Inohara Yoshihiko, the host of NHK’s “Asaichi.”

EDIT:

Now that it’s the evening in Japan, there is a story on what happened on the tonight’s shows. NEWS’ Koyama Keiichiro is a host of Nippon TV’s evening news show “news every.” He too expressed surprise at the news. He also expressed concern over what is going to happen next.
