ARAMA! JAPAN interviews BALLISTIK BOYZ

Upcoming Debut

After more than a year of training together as a group, BALLISTIK BOYZ will make their major debut on May 22, 2019 with the release of their self-titled album consisting of 7 tracks.

Released last month, their vibrant urban music video for “TENHANE -1000%-” has already amassed more than 1M views on YouTube.

How was the experience of filming the music video for your song “TENHANE -1000%-”?

BALLISTIK BOYZ’s first music video “TENHANE -1000%-“

Rikiya Okuda: Even though it was our first music video, we got to go overseas to L.A. to shoot it, so that made it an even bigger challenge, but we really gave it our all to make it something we could be proud of. Each member put his whole heart and soul into making the video, and that made it a really fun shoot. I think that everyone who watches it will see that it’s a true representation of us as a group, and of us having fun. The shooting schedule in LA was really tight, but our feelings were much stronger than our fatigue, so I think that we were really able to capture something amazing.

Riki Matsui: The best part was that we enjoyed shooting it from the bottom of our hearts. It was our first music video shoot and our first time in Los Angeles, so it was a moment that was filled with firsts. It’s only been one year since we formed BALLISTIK BOYZ, but we’ve done so many things that I never could have imagined a year ago thanks to the support of so many people, and that’s something that fills me with gratitude. What I felt during those moments on site is something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

I think we’re a new type of group within EXILE TRIBE.

YOSHIYUKI KANOU of BALLISTIK BOYZ

Upon your major debut, BALLISTIK BOYZ joins the EXILE TRIBE alongside 7 other groups. What is your relationship with these groups like?

Miku Fukahori: I’ve been a part of EXPG STUDIO since I was in elementary school, so I already know a lot of our senior artists. There are times when we go out for meals together in our private time, as well.

Ryusei Kainuma: This is only our first year together as a group, so I don’t have close personal relationships with any of our senior artists yet, but many of them have been really paying attention to BALLISTIK BOYZ and they support us any way they can.

Yoshiyuki Kanou: I met the FANTASTICS during VBA5, so I hang out and eat with Yagi, their vocalist, a lot. I’ve also bonded with Ryuto from GENERATIONS over the fact that we’re both vocalists, so we’ve had meals together a few times as well.

Which songs from the album are you excited about?

Ryuta Hidaka: Personally, for me it’s our song “PASION”. It’s an exciting song that has an exciting “Latin” feeling to it. The chorus’s beat has such a strong impact, it’s the sort of song that you start dancing along to without even realizing it.

Masahiro Sunada: “PASION” for me, too. It’s such an amazing song. It makes you feel energized right away, and the chorus gets stuck in your head from the first time you hear it.
