On November 29, Perfume released a new digital single, “Saisei.” The song serves as the theme song for the film “Shijinso no Satsujin”, which opens in theaters today. To tie in with the film’s release, “Perfume” has now released the music video for “Saisei.”
The music video is a mixture of old and new. The new part features Perfume in a forest, where they dance and then look at a series of video screens. These screens display the group’s music videos from the past 15 years. It then leads to a segment where the Perfume lip syncs “Saisei” through their old music videos. Check it out below!

On December 27, “MUSIC STATION ULTRA SUPER LIVE 2019” will air. The show will feature performances by the likes of Arashi, Shiina Ringo, Perfume, Koda Kumi, King & Prince, m-flo, LiSA, and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
The final set of performers was announced today. This set includes the likes of MISIA, Suda Masaki, Wagakki Band, and Hirai Dai. It was also announced that the show will feature a Disney medley and a performance from “Touken Ranbu.” See who else is performing below!

Last month mixture rock quartet King Gnu announced that they would be releasing a new album titled “CEREMONY” on January 15th. Now that this date has drawn somewhat closer, the group have finally published the remaining details regarding the record online.
“CEREMONY” will run 12-tracks long and pair already-released singles like their hit “Hakujitsu” with new songs “Chiisana Wakusei”, “Humor”, and more. Of note, one of the latter tracks – “Doron” – has been selected as the theme song for upcoming film “Smartphone wo Otoshita dake na no ni: Toraware no Satsujinki”.

After telling fans not to “rush into making ‘The Best Albums Of 2019′”, Nariaki Obukuro has announced that he will release his second album, “Piercing”, on December 18. This album comes a year and eight months after the release of his debut album, “Bunriha no Natsu.”
“Piercing” can be seen as a continuation of “Bunriha no Natsu”, in that it deals with the loss of Nariaki’s sense of self, which he experienced after creating the worldview of the person presented in his debut album.
“Piercing” includes collaborations with the rappers Tohji and 5lack, as well as the American musician Kenn Igbi.
With the announcement of “Piercing”, Nariaki also released the music video for the album’s outro, “Gaia.” The music video features English subtitles! Check it out below!
On December 31, 2020, Arashi will go on hiatus. Exactly a year before this date, on December 31, 2019, Arashi will venture into new territory: Netflix. The boyband’s documentary series, “ARASHI’s Diary -Voyage-“, will debut on that day.
A new episode of “ARASHI’s Diary -Voyage-” will debut monthly for the next year. The show will feature archive footage and new video, which will showcase the group in their final year of activity, as well as revealing their thoughts at they near their hiatus.
“ARASHI’s Diary -Voyage-” will be available in 190 countries, with subtitles in 28 languages. All episodes will debut on the same day worldwide.
Arashi member Matsumoto Jun spoke of the international distribution of “ARASHI’s Diary -Voyage-“, saying that he hopes people who haven’t heard of Arashi before will become interested. He also sees the show as a means of displaying Japan’s culture and humanity. He also noted that the documentary will be truthful, displaying what Arashi thinks and does during their final year together. Seeing as how the whole thing hasn’t been shot yet, he doesn’t exactly know what to expect or how it will turn out.

On December 31, Johnny & Associates will hold this year’s edition of its annual New Year’s Eve countdown concert, Johnny’s Countdown 2019 – 2020. It will be held at Tokyo Dome and broadcast live on Fuji TV from 11:45 PM JST to 12:45 AM JST. Johnny’s Countdown 2019 – 2020 will be hosted by TOKIO‘s Kokubun Taichi and V6‘s Inohara Yoshihiko.
Yoshihiko’s group will be performing at Johnny’s Countdown 2019 – 2020, along with the likes of Arashi and Yamashita Tomohisa. SixTONES and Snow Man will both make their Johnny’s Countdown debut this year. Kinki Kids, who are having their own countdown concert at Osaka’s Kyocera Dome, will have part of their concert aired live during the Fuji TV broadcast.
There will be several medleys during Johnny’s Countdown 2019 – 2020, including a “group change medley”, a “Johnny’s debut song medley”, and a “Johnny’s super hit song medley.” V6 will also perform a “25th anniversary medley” in honor of their 25th anniversary next year.
