Winners Announced for the 39th Japan Academy Prize

The awards ceremony for the 39th Japan Academy Prize was held last night, March 4. It confers the Grand Prize from among the “Awards of Excellence” of each category, winners of which were announced last January. Nishida Toshiyuki and Miyazawa Rie, winner of last year’s Best Actress, served as moderators for the event.

“Umimachi Diary” won 4 awards, the most for a movie this year. Check out the list of winners, nominees and gallery below.

Kuroki Haru won “Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role” for “Haha to Kuraseba” movie. This is her second consecutive award as she also won for the category last year. Ninomiya Kazunari won “Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role” for “Haha to Kuraseba” movie. Last year, Okada Junichi won the award for “Eien no Zero”, making it the second consecutive award for Johnnys Jimusho.
