Takuya Kimura causes 3-vehicle pileup in Tokyo

Sponichi reports Takuya Kimura, former member of the now-disbanded idol group SMAP, caused a traffic pileup in Tokyo on June 20.

The accident happened at around 4:45 PM in the city of Chofu in western Tokyo. Kimutaku, 44, was driving alone by car when he crashed into the back of a motorbike that was waiting at a traffic light at a down-sloped intersection. Three vehicles were caught in the pileup, but there were no injuries.

Today, when our talent Takuya Kimura was stopped at a red light, he carelessly rear-ended the motorbike in front of him at a low speed, which additionally resulted in damage to the two vehicles in front of them at the stop. He immediately contacted to police and listened to their instructions. Thank you all for your concerns, and to all those worrying and of course the victims, we deeply apologize.

I did stop, but was preoccupied and eased up on my brake,” Kimutaku was quoted.
