Official HIGE DANdism is the breakout act of 2019! Their song “Pretender”, which was released in May, has been in the top 10 of the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for 20 weeks! Along with their song “Shukumei”, Official HIGE DANdism has had two songs in the top 10 for the past eight weeks. They are particularly strong in streaming. This feature will take a more in-depth look at their rise.
“Pretender” has topped the Billboard Japan Streaming Songs chart for the past 18 weeks. From the week of 7/8 – 7/14 forward, the song has hit five million streams weekly, totalling 11 weeks. This number of streams is huge, seeing as how only four songs have hit four million weekly streams since the chart’s inception in October 2017. “Pretender” is the only song to have cracked five million weekly streams.
Up-and-coming artist Kalen Anzai has released the music video for her latest digital single “Jinsei wa Senjou da” (“Life is a Battleground”), the third and final entry into her ‘Immersive Society 3.0‘ trilogy that takes place in a fictionalized future version of Shibuya and features a strong cyberpunk and vaporwave driven aesthetic
The song will be used as the new ending theme for the ongoing anime series Black Clover, which began its third season on October 1, 2019. According to natalie, Kalen is a huge fan of the manga and hopes her message of facing adversity and overcoming it is communicated in relation to the themes of the series.
EXILE/EXILE the SECOND MEMBER Kenchi Tachibana has announced that he is married! Recently celebrating his 40th birthday on September 28th, the dancer married a 30-year-old non-celebrity woman on October 1st.
Not much is known about his wife, but the two did somehow met through his agency LDH. In the statement they also made it a point that she is not pregnant! No shotguns here.
Model and actress Nozomi Sasaki has been appointed as the brand new brand ambassador for the skincare company FANCL. Besides cosmetics, FANCL is quite known for their dietary supplement products too.

Top Johnny’s actor Takuya Kimura annoucned some very exciting news, he will be making his long awaited return to the music industry! Ever since his group SMAP parted ways back in December 2016, Takuya primarily focused his activities on acting.
In a recent episode of Takuya’s TOKYO FM radio show, he revealed that his very first solo album will be coming out in 2020! Titled “Go with the Flow“, the album is scheduled to be released on January 8th, 2020.
Last month, Nishikido Ryo announced that he was leaving Kanjani8 and Johnny & Associates. His last day in the company was September 30. On October 1, he announced the next phase of her career.
Ryo has established his own label, NOMAD RECORDS. The label will release his first album, “NOMAD”, on December 11. Ahead of the album’s relase, Ryo will embark on a nationwide tour. The tour will take place from November 5 – 28. Pre-orders for tickets, through his newly-opened fanclub NFC, will be accepted through October 14.
In addition, Ryo has opened social media accounts! He’s now on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Weibo. On the YouTube account, he’s released a teaser video of sorts, which can be seen below!

Yonezu Kenshi topped the Download Songs chart for the sixth consecutive week with “Uma to Shika.”
Perfume also topped the Download Albums chart with “Perfume The Best ‘P Cubed’.”
