Just over a year after the release of his previous album, singer/songwriter Ohashi Trio has announced that he will be releasing another new record on February 19th. Titled “This is music too”, the nine-track album will draw inspiration from the band sound of the 1970s and 80s – the period which Ohashi considers to be the root of much of his music.

Included on the record are rock track “LOTUS”, which is described as having a ‘tight groove’, the soul funk-inspired “Polaris”, and the melodically transcendent “Aotsuki Uku Umi”. Of particular note, he will also be re-recording his 2009 track “Lady” in this new style, the first time it’s been touched up since its original release.

Duo XIIX (Ten Twenty) – composed of UNISON SQUARE GARDEN’s vocalist and guitarist Kousuke Saito and bassist Yu Sudou – have announced that they will be releasing their first album together on January 22nd. This record, titled “White White”, will include 14 songs with influences as far-reaching as rock, funk, hip-hop, and R&B.

To support the album’s release, a pair of music videos for tracks “Light & Shadow” and “Stay Mellow” – plus a crossfade which previews the entire release – have been published to their YouTube channel. The PVs focus primarily around performances of the songs in question, with aesthetics to match their individual themes.

Rock trio TRIPLANE have announced that they will be releasing a new full-length album titled “unanimous” on January 29th. This will be the group’s ninth studio release together and their first since last year’s “THETA ~never ending fantasy~”.

Described as a record which further refines the trio’s ‘ultimate band sound’, “unanimous” will include their tie-up songs “Crank-In”, “Amefuri no Nichiyoubi”, and “nouveau” (as a bonus track). Ahead of the album’s release, a music video for its opening track “Rookie” has been uploaded to the band’s YouTube channel.

On January 16, KOHH held a concert at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA in Tokyo. He announced at this concert that he will retire after releasing his final album this year.

On January 15, Daichi Miura will release his new single, “I’m Here.” The song serves as the theme song for the TBS drama “Byoshitsu de Nembutsu wo Tonaenaide Kudasai.” “I’m Here” is described as an affirming mid-tempo dance song.

Ito Hideaki, one of the stars of “Byoshitsu de Nembutsu wo Tonaenaide Kudasai”, said that he is excited to see how Daichi’s song overlaps with the drama, seeing as how he’s been a fan of Daichi’s since he was in Folder.

On January 15, DAOKO will release a new digital single, “Otogi no Machi.” The song was written and composed alongside Nariaki Obukuro, who also arranged the song.

A music video for “Otogi no Machi” has also been released. In the clip, DAOKO stars as an office lady who ventures out into the world of Shibuya nightlife. Check it out below!

This week, Official HIGE DANdism topped the Hot 100 single chart with their single “Pretender”, with 13,801 points, topping the chart for the sixth non-consecutive week.

Katori Shingo topped the Hot Albums chart with his debut solo album “20200101.”

Official HIGE DANdism also topped the Streaming Songs chart for the 35th consecutive week with “Pretender.”

Suda Masaki retook the top spot on the Download Songs chart with his single “Machigai Sagashi”, topping the chart for the fifth non-consecutive week .

BiS topped the Download Albums chart with their new album “LOOKiE.”

Singer/songwriter Kazuyoshi Nakamura revealed late last year that he would be releasing a new full-length record on February 5th. Nakamura’s 10th studio set, fittingly titled “Juu”, will be his first such release in four years, since February 2016’s “Kaizoku Ban”.

“Juu” will include ten new songs from the singer, including the finished version of his previously released digital single “Kamashimi no Michi”. Ahead of the album’s release, a short music video for its closing track “Ai ni Shita wa.” has been uploaded to his YouTube channel.
