2019 was a very progressive year for Johnny’s, along with their fans. Many of their artists started to receive official SNS accounts, and even one of their top groups like Arashi have their music available globally on Apple Music and Spotify!

Unforuntely, there seems to be a push back to this progressiveness coming from some higher-ups in the office. The past few days foreign fan accounts on Twitter have been shut down, with some of them even receiving threats of serious legal action. A popular Twitter user in the SixTONES fandom received this threatening email when their account was suspended. For the remainder of the article they will be referred to as “A-san”.

On January 22, MISIA will release her new best album, “MISIA SOUL JAZZ BEST 2020.” The album will feature some of her biggest hits, along with four new songs. One of these new songs is titled “Anata to Anata”, and is a duet with Kinki Kids‘ Domoto Tsuyoshi. Other collaborators on the album include Raul Midon, MIYACHI, and Marcus Miller.

“MISIA SOUL JAZZ BEST 2020” will be released in three editions: limited edition CD+Blu-ray, limited edition CD+DVD, and regular edition CD only. The video disc included with the limited editions contains footage from the final show of MISIA’s “MISIA SOUL JAZZ SWEET & TENDER.”

It has been announced that Keyakizaka46 1st generation member Yurina Hirate will leave the group, effective immediately. Yurina’s departure from the group was announced with two members, Nana Oda and Miyu Suzumoto.

However, Nana and Miyu will be having the standard graduation concert ceremony, Yurina will not. Keyakizaka46’s official website did not give a specific reason as to why she resigned. A simple message was left thanking fans for their support.

Drama and film fans were in heaven when actor Masahiro Higashide announced that he was marrying model, and fellow actress Anne Watanabe. The two were held in high regard by the public, with many seeing them as an ideal couple. That image was soon tarnished for good as tabloid magazine Bunshun dropped the bombshell that Masahiro was cheating on Anne.

What makes the situation worse was that Marahiro was having an affair with the actress Erika Karata. This affair lasted for 3 years beginning when she was 19, and was going on while Anne was pregnant with the couple’s third child!

Morning Musume ’20 has released their first single under their new name, and 68th overall. Kokoro & Karada / Lovepedia / Ningen Kankei No Way Way also marks the debut single for 15th generation members Rio Kitagawa, Homare Okamura, and Mei Yamazaki.

The single is available in seven different versions, and as usual contains special lottery cards giving the fans a chance to win tickets to launch events for the single. The last time Morning Musume released a triple a-side single was in 2017.

A special March 2020 issue of Numero Tokyo has been announced, and the cover models are none other than cleaning superstar Marie Kondo and visionary Rola!

The two talk about the era of being “dominated” by things, and speak of trying to live lives closer to their hearts. They attempt to accomplish this by cherishing “things that can flourish”, and “things that you can sympathize with”. By doing so you can live a lifestyle that values only the things you love!

At AKB48′s annual “Request Live” event the center was announced for the groups upcoming untitled single. To the surprise of many, Team 4 member Mizuki Yamauchi was announced as center for the single!

Mizuki successfully passed her audition for the group in October 2016, and made her debut two months later. In the 9th Senbatsu Election she didn’t rank, but in the 10th election she managed to place 92nd. It seems her popularity began to rise since then, as she will leading AKB48’s first new song of the decade. The currently untitled single will be released on March 18th, 2020.

Singer/songwriter TK from Ling Tosite Sigure will be releasing a new single titled “Chou no Tobu Suisou” this week on January 22nd. The A-side track has already been picked up as the theme song for Geno Studio’s psychological thriller anime “pet”.

In conjunction with the release, a music video for the lead song – a cinematic affair influenced by contemporary artistic styles – has been uploaded to his YouTube channel. “Chou no Tobu Suisou” will precede the release of TK’s fourth studio album, which is slated for the spring.
