Actress and former AKB48 member Sayaka Akimoto is the latest graduated member to join the marriage club. On her official twitter account she made the announcement with a unique illustration of herself and rapper husband PUNPEE.
The two wed on June 20th, 2020. She looks forward to fans continued support, and will continue to work hard! Akimoto and PUNPEE’s relationship was first reported by tabloids in 2018. At the time Akimoto’s agency simply commented that they stay out of the private life of their talents.
Girl group AKB48 has released a brand new charity song titled “Hanareteitemo“, which means “even when apart”. It will officially be released on July 1st, and all sales until December 31st, 2020 will fully be donated to organizations helping to support the devastating effects of coronavirus.
For this song AKB48 were joined by their most legendary and popular members who have all now graduated, including the original Kami 7, with the exception of Mayu Watanabe who recently retired from show business.

A few days ago it was announced that Yuya Tegoshi had left both his group NEWS and agency Johnny & Associates. Since the initial announcement, Tegoshi has followed many of his other peers who left the agency and made an official Twitter account. According to his first, and so far only tweet, it was his decision to leave Johnny’s.
A couple of weeks back we reported that popular singer/songwriter Kenshi Yonezu would be releasing his fifth studio album “STRAY SHEEP” on August 5th. Now that this date has drawn closer, Yonezu has chosen to publish all of the details regarding the release online.
As noted previously, “STRAY SHEEP” will run 15 tracks in length and include six of his previously released singles, as well as nine new songs like his “MIU404” theme “Kanden”, a self-cover of Masaki Suda’s “Machigai Sagashi” – which Yonezu wrote, composed, and produced – and his collaboration track with RADWIMPS’ Yojiro Noda, “PLACEBO”. The record’s Limited Editions will include a DVD/Blu-ray containing both the era’s music videos and footage from the Makuhari Messe performance of his “Sekitsui ga Opal ni Naru Koro” tour, marking the first time Yonezu has released a complete live show.

Singer/songwriter Souhei Oyamada – formerly of andymori and currently the lead singer of rock band AL – has announced that he will be releasing his first solo album on August 26th. This record, titled “THE TRAVELING LIFE”, will include 12 newly recorded songs and be released in two versions, with the Limited Edition to come packaged with a DVD.
Ahead of the album’s release, its lead track “OH MY GOD” has been released as a digital single and a PV has been uploaded to Oyamada’s recently opened YouTube channel. The video was shot via the use of a drone and features Oyamada wandering through a striking mountain locale.

On June 19, Hoshino Gen will release his new digital single, “Oriai.” The song is described as a “love song born from coronavirus.” Gen, who worked continuously during stay at home measures, created the song entirely by himself while at home, from the track production to the vocal recording.
The music video for “Oriai” keeps the coronavirus theme, featuring Gen and Ishibashi Shizuka as two people in self-isolation. Shizuka even indulges in the coronavirus trend of making bread from scratch! Check out the video below!
Orion has released their digital album ranking for the first half of 2020. This ranking is based off of sales, with the aggregation period beginning on December 9th, 2019 lasting until June 7th, 2020.
Among the slew of new artists, a surprise entrant in the top 5 was none other than J-pop’s diva Ayumi Hamasaki with her 2008 compilation album “A COMPLETE ~ ALL SINGLES~“. Originally released to commemorate her 10th anniversary since debuting, it initially topped the Oricon charts selling almost 540k units. The album includes remastering of her 43 singles starting from “poker face” until “Mirrorcle World”.
