Which Celebs Got Married in 2014 So Far?

Half of the year have gone by, so it’s interesting to look back on what has gone on so far. Japan is no different with websites looking at which celebrities got married, who divorced, etc. Today we’re bringing you a list of Japanese celebrities who’ve got married and accompanying information. This year we saw of J-pop’s biggest soloists, Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru getting married and to non-Japanese men. Though many are asking how long will Ayumi’s marriage last this time. And while Japan’s birth rate is on the decline, it’s interesting to see that this hasn’t stopped some of them such as Sakaguchi Kenji.

AKB48 Iriyama Anna makes her first appearance since May

This past May 25th, AKB48 members Iriyama Anna, Kawaei Rina, as well as a staff member were injured during a handshake event. The attacker used a long saw-like weapon against them. Due to this, their record label King Records has stated that they will be taking proper measures to prevent a similar incident from happening. Participants will have to go through bag searches and metal detectors. Any food and drink will have to be consumed in front of staff. Bags will be limited to 1 per person and must be left in a separate area during handshakes.

According to Sanspo and Oricon, Iriyama Anna made a surprise appearance the theatre on June 30th. This is the first time she has appeared in front of fans. While she did have a cast on her right hand, she greeted everyone with a bright smile. Her fellow teammates welcomed her warmly and asked fans to keep supporting Iriyama and Kawaei, who has not yet returned.

Kou Shibasaki transfers to Victor Entertainment & new single ‘Aoi Hoshi’

Kou Shibasaki revealed that she has transferred to Victor Entertainment for all her future musical activities. She’s wasting no time and has announced that her first single after transferring ‘Aoi Hoshi‘ will be released August 27th.

On natalie.mu Shibasaki commented, “the melody gently tugs at your emotions and when I was recording it, my heart was shaken.” She’s excited about her recent transfer and went on to say, “I believe that working with this new team will cultivate great things.”

Produced by Jeff Miyahara, ‘Aoi Hoshi’ is a powerful ballad about selfless love. The song will be used as the ending theme for TV Tokyo’s ‘Aoihonoo’ starting July 18th. The drama directed by Yuichi Fukuda and starring Yuya Yagira is based off a manga of the same name and is set in the 80s.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Remix headed to the West

Miku Hatsune is a pretty big deal these days, in the world of virtual idols, anyway. Her Western video game debut Project Diva F was successful enough to warrant a localization of its sequel, and she’s even on tour with Lady Gaga.With all that said its not surprising that she’s making her first appearance on the 3DS in the West next year with Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Remix.

Slated Johnnys movies for 2nd half of 2014

The J&A empire is digging its claws deeper in the movie industry.

The year opened with V6 Okada Junichi’s ‘Eien no Zero’ movie reigning the local box office for 8 straight weeks. Nishikido Ryo, Ikuta Toma, Nakajima Kento and several others, comprised J&A’s movie offerings for the first half of 2014

FAIRY TAIL manga to have a spinoff

Oricon has recently reported that FAIRY TAIL, a shounen manga by Mashima Hiro, will have a new spin-off series starting from August 2nd. The title will be “FAIRY TAIL Blue Mistral“. It’s planned to be published weekly in shoujo comic magazine Nakayoshi. It will be produced by a new artist named Watanabe Rui.

Wendy Marvell and Charles are the main characters. The new series begins from the point that the duo joined the Fairy Tail guild. Wendy, and her companion Charles, will go resolve a request that involves mysterious phenomenons. This spin-off is, of course, sweeter and more girly than the original series. There are plans to write in love stories fitting the change of genre.

Tokyo DisneySea introduces Gelatoni

The Oriental Land, operators of Tokyo DisneySea, made an announcement following strange murals popping up through the park that they would be adding a new cat character to their cast! According to the company, Gelatoni is a boy cat with a long tail and emerald green eyes. His interests include drawing and painting and if you look carefully, his tail is actually a paintbrush!

Gelatoni accompanies Duffy the Disney Bear, a character found throughout the various international Disney parks but is arguably most visible at Tokyo DisneySea, replacing shows of more famous characters like Donald Duck and Mickey. It’s said that Duffy met Gelatoni when he walked into him and dropped his gelato. Gelatoni thinks quickly and uses the gelato in the painting he was working on and the two quickly became good friends.

EXILE Reveals PV for NEW HORIZON

Released just minutes ago, EXILE is back with a new PV and single. However, between the time of leader HIRO’s retirement and this new release, the group has been busy. With the three vocalists, TAKAHIRO, SHOKICHI and ATSUSHI focusing on solo work. Also the addition of five new performers from their EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION to take HIRO’s place. The group will now start the 4th chapter of their long career.

So it’s no surprise that EXILE would release the new PV for their single ‘NEW HORIZON’. The song will serve as the theme song for summer event, Odaiba Shin Dairiku 2014. The song’s lyrics was written by member ATSUSHI himself. Despite the gaudy appearance of the CD jacket, the PV carries the sleek and cool image of EXILE that we know. The PV features the members in black and silver dancing to the song in sync. As well as them in a new age world, thanks to the use of CG. HIRO also makes a cameo in the video.
