There are many things to appreciate about films from one of the top animation studios in the world Studio Ghibli. Fans can unanimously agree that one of the most striking qualities of their movies are their gorgeous, hand-painted backgrounds that immerse viewers into an amazingly imaginative fantasy landscapes.
A lot of that can be attributed to Kazuo Oga, who has worked as the background artist and background director of some of the Studio’s most beloved films.
For this ranking through Goo Rankings and DoCoMo, 16,030 people were surveyed over the span of the month and asked “which Ghibli movie they wouldn’t mind getting lost in.” One of those films stole the hearts of many by a landslide!
As previously reported, Kato Miliyah is set to release her first artist book in celebration of her 10th anniversary. The book is titled “Cupido-クピド-.” It is set for release on October 2. In the book, Miliyah will discuss her 10 year career in the music industry. She will also include the messages fans sent her about their favorite songs of hers that was previously mentioned in the earlier article about this book. Previews of Mano Erina‘s 7th photobook ZERO have recently been released. Mano is currently enjoying a successful acting career starring in the live action adaptation of Mobile Police Patlabor. A feature film is scheduled to be released in 2015.
The photobook was shot by two photographers, Nishikida Koki and Sato Hiroyuki. Each photographer created a different concept giving this photobook a slightly unique twist.
The first concept is of a naive girl living alone in the country, who doesn’t know much about the “outside world”. In order to find happiness and become independent she moves to the city. ZERO will be released August 27th in two versions. One standard edition and a limited amazon.jp version.

It was reported last month that talent Mari Sekine (29) and Korean singer K (30) were to marry this month.
After 2 years of a serious relationship, Sponichi reports that the couple tied the knot today at a Shinto shrine in Tokyo.
Rather than the popular choice of a modern Western-style wedding, the couple opted for a more traditional Shinto-style ceremony, with K wearing a simple hakama and Mari wearing a white kimono, visibly revealing her maiden status to the Gods. Both of their parents, relatives, as well as 30 close friends of the couple gathered today to witness the ceremony.
Although K looked tense, Sekine glowed while showing off a sweet, gentle smile.
This year GACKT appeared once again as Uesugi Kenshin, one of the most powerful lords (daimyo) of the Sengoku period, at this year’s Kenshin Kousai.
In the 2007 NHK Taiga drama ‘Fuurin Kazan’, GACKT played the role of Uesugi Kenshin, where he then began to portray it at the Joetsu city’s Kenshin Festival held every August. But this festival didn’t start with the singer, it has been an annual performance since 1926. However, the festival in fact has received a record high attendance rate since his participation, with over 240,000 visitors piling in to see GACKT.
British news website The Guardian has featured Japanese music composer, producer, writer and singer Shintaro Sakamoto as their 19th artist of the week.
Known as the vocalist and guitarist of the psychedelic rock band Yura Yura Teikoku, once they disbanded after 21 years, Sakamoto went solo and has gone on to receive international acclaim.
