Yonezu Kenshi, Arashi, and King Gnu Awarded by the IFPI for Global Album Sales

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has named the best selling albums 2020 worldwide. This year, the organization split the usual IFPI Global Album Chart into two separate charts: the IFPI Global Album All Format Chart and the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart. The difference between the two is that the IFPI Global Album All Format Chart counts physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming, while the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart doesn’t count streaming.

Yonezu Kenshi‘s “STRAY SHEEP”, Japan’s best selling album of 2020, ranked at #7 on the IFPI Global Album All Format Chart. The album also ranked at #3 on the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart.

Arashi, who had the best selling album globally of 2019, came in at #9 on the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart with their album “This Is Arashi.” They were followed by King Gnu at #10 with their album “CEREMONY.”

Both charts were topped by BTS‘ “MAP OF THE SOUL: 7.”
