i watched this and…no LDH artists were even nominated? is this supposed to be damage control for j soul brothers award being bought

    • SeeYaWithYou

This was a Leo DiCap oscar moment where Kana didn’t deserve the JRA for this song specifically, but definitely did for her career up to that point.

I suppose the award committee made an attempt to save face here, but giving Kana the Grand Prix isn’t exactly helping when Bunshun already “outed” her as Burning’s pick a few weeks ago. Same goes for iKON’s BNA since their activities in Japan are assisted by avex which is of course tied to Burning.

It was also rather embarrassing to see some media outlets claim that Utada will be performing live here (she didn’t). Gen’s absence from the nominees list for the GP is still a laughable decision, especially considering Koi’s strong ties to TBS. The producers are probably kicking themselves now since Gen would have provided a slight bump in ratings had he showed up.

This is such a pity win for Kana. Literally got it because the show need to save face. Also wanna believe that she won it because Hikki didn’t show up.

Kana Nishino is pretty popular tho and successful, and her music appeals to the new generation. Why are Hikki fans so bitter all the time, I swear.

      • Shaq

Why u be hating on Kana?

      • starlightshimmers

Kana Nishino is great, what’s your problem?

    • MJBeatle

Soooo, how does the Japan Record Awards work…. Why isn’t it giving it to the best seller of the year….

      • starlightshimmers

It’s like the Grammys or Oscars, it’s based on whomever the association feels deserves it.

    • Shaq

      Go Kana!

    • MJBeatle

Why didn’t BigBang show up at the awards ceremony? I thought they were supposed to win the Special Awards.
