Music Station Will Be Moved to Later Time Slot for the First Time in 33 Years

After 33 years—since its inception back in 1986—TV Asahi’s popular music performance program “Music Station” will be moved from its current 8:00 PM time slot.

Starting October 2019, “Music Station” will begin its broadcast an hour later at 9:00 PM. With the new time slot, the show will also be updated with the goal of having a “more fun” and “more luxurious” live music program.

After 40 years CHAGE and ASKA part ways on not very good terms

CHAGE and ASKA is one of Japan’s most successful duos ever. To date their works have sold over 30 million copies in Japan alone.

The duo got their start in 1979, with their big break coming in 1981 with the release of their #1 album “Neppu (The Hot Wind)”.

They enjoyed steady, but declining success for the majority of the 80s, before having a resurgence again in the early to mid 90s. Their 1991 album “Tree” went on to sell over 2.3 million copies, and their 1993 single “Yah Yah Yah / Yume no Bannin” is the 11th best selling physical single in Japan, selling 2.4 million.

Yuko Oshima reflects on the end of “AKBINGO!”

Earlier in the week former AKB48 ace Yuko Oshima took to her official Twitter account to comment on the end of the variety show AKBINGO!

AKBINGO! is AKB48’s weekly variety show, and it began airing on October 1st, 2008 right when the group was beginning their dominance on the J-pop scene. Prevciously the girls had a variety show called “AKB 1ji 59 fun!” and “AKB 0ji 59fun!”.

AKS Launches International 48-Group Web Portal “48Circle”

Talent agency AKS has launched a brand new web portal called “48Circle that will cover the latest news, live reports, interviews of AKB48 Groups around the world in multiple languages.

According to the website, AKB48 and their oversea sister groups JKT48, BNK48, MNL48, Team SH, Team TP, SGO48, CGM48, DEL48, MUB48 will be featured on the site.

NMB48, ENDRECHERI, Kenshi Yonezu, RADWIMPS, and Official HIGE DANdism top the Oricon Charts for the Week of 8/12 – 8/18

This week NMB48 topped the Combined Single chart with their latest single “Bokou e Kaere!”, which notched 196,619 points in its first week.

ENDRECHERI topped the Combined Album chart with his new album “NARALIEN”, which notched 60,852 points in its first week.

NMB48 also topped the Single chart with “Bokou e Kaere!”, selling 195,471 copies in its first week.

Kenshi Yonezu topped the Digital Single chart with his new single “Uma to Shika”, which was downloaded 164,798 times in its first week.

Finally, Official HIGE DANdism topped the Streaming chart for the 13th consecutive week with their song “Pretender”, with 3,954,000 steams in its 16th week.

FAKY Deliver Girl Power with New Music Video “GIRLS GOTTA LIVE”

Girl group FAKY has unveiled the music video for “GIRLS GOTTA LIVE” —the first release from their newly-proposed “Girl Power” single trilogy.

The song is a pop tune with a slight tinge of 90s R&B. It was co-written by group members Akina & Lil’ Fang, Noonie Bao, frequent collaborator to Charli XCX and Carly Rae Jepsen, Thomas Troelsen, who has penned countless hits for K-Pop group SHINee, and Adam Pallin.

This release introduces two new members Hina and Taki, following the departure of former leader Anna in December 2018.

Yuki Moeko’s Debut to Feature Collaborations with Kawatani Enon and Kanno Yoko

Warner Music Japan has a new act on its roster! Her name is Yuki Moeko and she will make her major label debut with the single “innocent moon” on August 28. The single will contain four songs, all of which will feature lyrics by Gesu no Kiwami Otome. / indigo la End‘s Kawatani Enon. He’s also in charge of composition on all of the songs, with one being a co-composition with his Gesu no Kiwami Otome. bandmate Chan MARI. That song, “Kofuku Ame”, is also arranged by Chan MARI.

Moeko recently released the music video for her single’s opening track, “Sayonara Watashi no Seishun.” This song was arranged by Kanno Yoko. “Sayonara Watashi no Seishun” is a nice melding of Enon and Yoko’s sounds. Check out the video below, along with more information on Moeko’s single!
