Back in January we reported that singer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Ohashi Trio would be releasing a new record titled “This is music too” on February 19th. Now that this date has drawn closer, he has chosen to publish a lyric video for the album’s second track “Polaris” to his YouTube channel.

The clip pairs the song’s mellow, soul funk-inspired sound with visuals which evoke both nighttime cruising and the winter season. Both “Polaris” and the 2020 version of Ohashi Trio’s “Lady” have also been released as digital singles.

Bilingual pop-rock band MONKEY MAJIK will be celebrating the 20th anniversary since their initial formation this year. As the first part of the festivities, the quartet have revealed that they will be releasing a new longplay titled “northview” on February 26th.

The fourth in their ‘view’ series of albums, “northview” will include the group’s previously released digital single “Bitten By You” along with nine new songs for a total of ten. To further support the record, they have now published a digest which previews all of its tracks to their YouTube channel.

Singer/songwriter Shikao Suga has announced that he will be releasing a new EP titled “ACOUSTIC SOUL 2” on February 25th. This follows the digital release of the first “ACOUSTIC SOUL” record back in 2014, and will be his first substantial release of new material since last year’s “Roudou Nanka Shinaide Kougousei Dake de Ikitai“.

“ACOUSTIC SOUL 2” will include three new songs from Suga, plus an acoustic version of his previously released digital single “Boku no Machi ni Asobi ni Kite yo”. Previews for all four of these tracks have been uploaded to his YouTube channel ahead of the release.

On February 8, JP THE WAVY will release his new digital single, “Louis 8.” The song was produced by JIGG. The song and video for “Louis 8” are basketball-themed and serve as a celebration of Rui Hachimura, who plays for the NBA’s Washington Wizards, wearing jersey #8. Check it out below!

On January 1, Tokyo Jihen announced its reunion and released the digital single “Erabarezaru Kokumin.” This song, along with four other new ones, will be released on the EP “News” on April 8. This is the band’s first CD release in about eight years. Each of the songs on “News” is composed by a different Tokyo Jihen member. Check out the EP’s cover below!
