DJ and producer tofubeats is back with a new song helmed by a female vocalist after the release of his previous album ‘Disco no Kamisama’ back in April.
‘Come on Honey!‘ a disco pop song with a video inspired by karaoke from the 90s that features Hitomi Arai of idol group Tokyo Girls’ Style.
Last year tofubeats supplied a 1988 dub remix of Tokyo Girls’ Style’s song ‘Rock you!’ for the group’s collaboration album. Along with being a collaborator of hip-hop idol group lyrical school, in the past he has also provided music for Nozomi Sasaki, YUKI, 9nine and Momoiro Clover Z.
Convenience store chain Circle k sunkus across Japan will commemorate the new Doraemon movie by changing up their food packaging and products to mimic the famous character starting August 5th.
Products include a specific coffee cup, a red bean paste and margarine pancake, and a custard-filled pastry in the shape of Doraemon. Customers whose receipts meet certain conditions will be entered in a sweepstakes to receive limited edition promotional items.
Jin Akanishi will resume his activities as a singer on August 6 with the release of his new single ‘Good Time’. Shot entirely along the coast of Australia, the video perfectly matches the summery vibe of the song.
It’ll be released under his own independent label Go Good Records, created with the intent to reach out to international fans in the future.
JUJU has released the covers and tracklist for her new single “Last Scene.” This is the singer’s 27th single and it is set for release on September 17. As previously reported, “Last Scene” is the theme song for the upcoming NHK drama Seijo, starring Ryoko Hirosue. This is not the single’s only tie-in though. Today, singer-songwriter Kato Miliyah released the single covers for her forthcoming single “YOU…” As previous reported, this is a collaboration single between Miliyah and Izumi Nakasone of the band HY. According to ZakZak, famed animation house Studio Ghibli will be sold to Japanese media company Dwango. This news comes after online speculation that the studio would be closing following the retirement of Hayao Miyazaki, a report that turned out to be more misunderstanding than anything.
Oguri Shun and Kuroki Meisa greeted over 4000 fans and press at the premiere of their highly anticipated film Lupin III. The film, directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, is a live action adaption of the iconic manga.
The plot centers around how the series’ main characters meet for the first time. The film also serves as a huge update to the Lupin franchise in general, for the first time the story will take place in a contemporary setting. The decision to do this was all on Ryuhei Kitamura. Before filming began he stated
There’s no meaning to a live-action film adaptation if you make the setting the same. I intend to change the characters themselves to make them modern. It would be nonsense for Goemon to exist in current society wearing samurai’s garb and carrying around a katana.
Today, BUMP OF CHICKEN unveiled the music video for their new digital single “You were here.” The single was released to iTunes and Recochoku this past Friday, August 1. The single commemorates the band’s WILLPOLIS 2014 tour, which held its finale at Tokyo Dome this past Thursday, July 31. The video features footage from said tour.
