Hello Arama! Japan readers and welcome to this week’s installment of #1 Song Review! Last week saw THE Sharehappi from Sandaime J Soul Brothers win against Kis-My-Ft2 and EXILE. This week we have 2 newcomers. Find out what various staff members thought of the songs that topped the physical and digital charts this week and share your thoughts on them too!

Oricon #1: KinKi Kids – Yume wo Mireba Kizutsuku Koto mo Aru (not released digitally)

Ronald: I’m bored. There’s nothing interesting going on in this completely forgettable song. I feel like I’ve heard this a million other times before from a million other acts. This is more of a B-side or an album track than an A-side. 3/10

Thomas: This is really boring in my opinion. It’s nicely arranged but very forgettable as a whole. I don’t particularly like the vocals either. 3.5/10

Recochoku #1 / iTunes #1: back number – Christmas Song (Oricon #2)

Ronald: This is pleasant. I like the Christmas feel of the song. It is done in a grand way, without being being overbearing or cheesy. That being said, I do feel as if the Christmas-y parts of the song are added on to what is basically the same framework as their other songs. back number’s songs tend to sound a bit too samey and get dull after a while. The Christmas-y additions to this song really helps make it a bit more interesting than most of their other work. 6/10

Thomas: I said in my review of their song “Tegami” that it was alright, but too similar to their previous singles this year. The same applies to this too. It’s a nice song for the season, but nothing special at all (especially if you’ve heard the other songs they’ve released this year). 4.5/10
