Rock quartet SUPER BEAVER have announced that they will be releasing a new Double A-side single titled “Toppakou / Jiman ni Naritai” on October 21st. Well in advance of this date, “Toppakou” has already been selected as the second opening theme song for popular anime “Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP”.

Today a music video for the second lead song – “Jiman ni Naritai” – was uploaded to the band’s YouTube channel. The PV stars actor Kenta Suga and attempts to convey a story in line with the track’s lyrics.

You’ll find both this video and the latest trailer for “Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP” – which features a snippet of “Toppakou” – after the cut.

Today pop-rock duo Pirokalpin unveiled the PV for their new song “Summer Day”. This bittersweet mid-tempo number marks the first sign of new material from the pair in a year, following up on their 2019 album “Sono Maku ga Agaru Toki”.

The clip – which features direction from longtime collaborator Ryouji Aoki – pairs performance shots filmed in a traditional Japanese house with a series of short skits based around common summer memories.

This week, YOASOBI retook the top spot on the Hot 100 single chart with their digital single “Yoru ni Kakeru”, with 11,055 points, topping the chart for the fifth non-consecutive week.

SEVENTEEN topped the Hot Albums chart with their new mini album “24H.”

YOASOBI also topped the Streaming Songs chart with “Yoru ni Kakeru”, topping the chart for the 15th non-consecutive week.

BUMP OF CHICKEN topped the Download Songs chart with their new digital single “Gravity.”

Aimyon topped the Download Albums chart with her new album “Oishii Pasta ga Aru to Kiite.”

On September 23, TENDRE will release his second album, “LIFE LESS LONELY.” This album comes a year and eleven months since his debut album “NOT IN ALMIGHTY.”

“LIFE LESS LONELY” contains ten songs, which TENDRE says document the emotional ups and downs of the past year. The album includes collaborations with Arai Kazuki (King Gnu), Ryohu (KANDYTOWN / Aun beatz), AAAMYYY (Tempalay), and WONK‘s Shin Sakiura & Arata Hikaru. On September 22, NHK aired a special in honor of Seiko Matsuda‘s 40th anniversary, “Seiko Matsuda Special Kaze ni Mukatte Utai Tsudzuketa 40-nen.” This special looked back on Seiko’s career and featured an interview with her. The show featured appearances by Zaitsu Kazuo, Shinoyama Kishin, Yumi Matsutoya, and Matsumoto Takashi, all of whom have worked with Seiko during the course of her career. She also performed her new digital single.

Seiko Matsuda – Kaze ni Mukau Ichirin no Hana

Former TOKIO member Tatsuya Yamaguchi was arrested earlier today on suspicion of drunk driving. He is accused of driving his motorcycle under the influence of alcohol, police stated.

Tatsuya was arrested in Tokyo’s Nerima Ward after colliding with a car waiting at a traffic light around 9:30 this morning while on his way to a friend’s house. He claimed responsibility for the accident and admitted he was drunk at the time of the accident. Neither party was injured in the collision. Tokyo police arrested Tatsuya after he failed a breathalyzer test.

This incident adds to Tatsuya’s recent trouble. In 2018, he was accused of “forced indecency” with a 16 year old girl. This incident led to him leaving TOKIO as well as Johnny & Associates.

Back in August we reported that singer/songwriter Yu Takahashi would be releasing a new studio album titled “PERSONALITY” on October 21st. With scarcely a month remaining before its street date, he has now chosen to publish all of the details regarding the record online.

“PERSONALITY” will include already revealed songs like “one stroke”, “room”, and “Asphalt no Wani”, his latest digital single “Jiyugaoka”, and 11 new tracks for a total of 15. In conjunction with this announcement, a music video for “Jiyugaoka” – featuring Takahashi performing the moving ballad on piano – has been uploaded to his YouTube channel.
