Japanese news agencies have began reporting that singer ELISA has terminated her contract with her agency Smile Company, which expired at the end of September 2020. ELISA’s issues with her agency began in Spring 2018 when she was appointed a brand new manager.

Her manager was a man in his late 30s, married and with a child. Things quickly took a turn for the worse when he would routinely invite her out to dinner and bars, using the guise of “work meetings” to meet with her. ELISA’s manager would routinely get drunk while inappropriately embracing and kissing her. In an interview, ELISA detailed horrific situations where the sexual assault escalated.

This week, Kis-My-Ft2 topped the Hot 100 single chart with their new single “ENDLESS SUMMER”, with 18,176 points.

TWICE topped the Hot Albums chart with their new best album “#TWICE3.”

Johnny’s group Hey! Say! JUMP has released their 28th single titled “Your Song“! The title song is currently serving as the main theme for the TBS drama series “K2 Dodgy Badge Brothers” starring Hey! Say! JUMP member Ryosuke Yamada along with Kei Tanaka.

“Your Song” can be purchased in two limited edition CD+DVDs, and a regular CD only version. The CD only version comes with an 8 page booklet and a memo pad while supplies last, it also has it’s own exclusive b-sides. Fans who choose one of the limited editions will receive an LP sized photocard while supplies last.

TV Tokyo network just aired the Autumn edition of their annual music show “TV Tokyo Music Festival 2020“, one performer who has been making headlines is none other than living deity Maki Goto! Ever since halting her music activities in 2011, performances from the former top idol have been sparse.

For the Tokyo Music Festival Goto teamed up with AKB48 and performed a medley of their hits. “Aitakatta”, “Flying Get”, and “Heavy Rotation”. The internet was flooded with both positive and shocked comments, seeing someone from Morning Musume OG performing with AKB48, and that a 35-year-old could be so convincible while centering AKB48. On September 30, JUJU will release a new single, “Kanade / LA LA LA LOVE SONG.” This release sees her covering Sukima Switch and Toshinobu Kubota, respectively.

Both songs of these songs will appear on JUJU’s new cover album, “Ore no Request”, out October 21. The fourth release in her “Request” cover album series, “Ore no Request” sees JUJU covering male artists, including Kirinji, Oda Kazumasa, MONGOL800, GLAY, and Ulfuls.

The Japanese entertainment world is still reeling from the tragic passing of actress Yuko Takeuchi. Upon news of the tragedy, the Japanese government urged citizens who are struggling to seek out help.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato commented “There has been an uptick in the number of suicide cases since July. We have to acknowledge the fact that so many people are ending their precious lives,” Previously, Japan was seeing record-low suicide rates in 2019 and in the first half of 2020 there was a drop in the number of suicides. Beginning in July 2020 numbers began to considerably rise.

While the exact cause of death is still unclear, further details on the day Takeuchi died have been revealed.

Mika Nakashima is currently celebrating her 20th anniversary! On October 7, she will release her new album, “JOKER.” This is her first album since March 2017’s “TOUGH.”

“JOKER” will feature 14 songs, including the previously released songs “Happy Life”, “A or B”, “KISS OF DEATH”, “SAI_REN”, and “Innocent Rouge.” The album will come in a limited edition and a regular edition, with the limited edition including a DVD of music videos and live clips, along with a photobook.

THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE has released their 12th single “FEARS“! September 30th marks the physical release of the single, the song was previously released digitally on August 19th. Fans will be able to purchase the single in two versions, a CD only and CD+DVD, which features the b-sides “LIVIN’ IT UP” and “FAST LANE”.

“FEARS” is currently serving as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama series “Kyoufu Shinbun“, the finale for the drama will air on October 10th, 2020.
