Yamashita Tomohisa’s new song ‘Your Step’ is the theme song of his variety show ‘Otona no Kiss Eigo’. Lyrics is provided by Naoto Inti Raymi and the song will have an English and Japanese version. The release date is not confirmed yet, either whether there is an upcoming single. But there are plans for an album this upcoming fall/ autumn.
Recording of the song and filming of the music video were done in LA. Yamapi directed the PV and this was his first time doing so. This was part of the task assigned to him by his variety show. Aside from handling the shoot, he needed to finish filming in one day. The show’s staff, producer and some scenes from his babysitting stint in LA were also featured in the PV.
The PV of the English version of the song was aired in the recent episode of ‘Otona no Kiss Eigo’. Check it out below for some carefree and casual Yamapi.
Electro girl-group Perfume has announced that their fourth studio album ‘LEVEL3‘ will get a re-release in the United States, stylized as ‘LEVEL3 (Bonus Edition)’. The album release will coincide with their 3rd world tour, which has dates scheduled in New York and Los Angeles this November.
The album will be released through Astralwerks, an established EDM label which has also housed acts like The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, and Kraftwerk. The label tapped Perfume’s Japanese management for permission to remix them and their producer Yasutaka Nakata is said to have happily agreed.
Ten years ago today saw the Japanese release of Utada Hikaru’s English language album “Exodus.” The following month would see the album’s US and European releases. After massive success in Japan, she set her sites on success in her birth country, the United States. Armed with complete fluency in English and great musical credentials, she took a shot at trying to crossover from the Asian music scene to the Western one, something that is still being attempted today with less than fruitful results overall. To mark this occasion, AXS, entertainment behemoth AEG’s digital marketing site, wrote a retrospective piece on the album 10 years after its release.
YUKI has released a new music video for one of the tracks on her forthcoming album “FLY”, out September 17. “Naminori 500 Mile” features the rap duo KAKATO, composed of Tamaki ROY and Chinza DOPENESS. This collaboration came about after YUKI saw the duo perform live. The video has a bit of a voyeuristic quality to it. It starts with a shot of the Tokyo skyline and zooms into the window of a room where the 3 are dancing and performing the song. Check it out after the jump!
