All-female band LAGOON is revealed, featuring Miori Takimoto on vocals

On October 3rd, it was announced that actress Miori Takimoto will be the vocalist for the brand new all-female band LAGOON.

LAGOON was created under Sony Music Records and has five members in the group. Auditions were held with the motive to “support women in making their dreams come true”. The members are women who want to make music, but also come from different backgrounds.

Yuya Matsushita releases new single “Eternal Now”, ALUCARD PV

R&B singer Yuya Matsushita has released his new digital single “Eternal Now“.

“Eternal now” has a warm ambience, and while he usually sings about heartbreak, this time he’s singing about love fit to play a wedding. Coupled with the single are live versions of “All My Love” and “Helpless” from his recent album “#musicoverdose” released in August of last year.

Matsushita played the lead role of a Art x Horror x Entertainment Musical entitled “THE ALUCARD SHOW” alongside performers gathered from different genres of music, dance and theater. They have just released a PV for the song featuring the ensemble cast.

New idol group to dance and sing away millions of debt

Idol groups need a special gimmick to help differentiate to the hundreds, if not thousands, of other idol groups there are in Japan. When you’ve think you’ve seen it all, another even more bizarre concept turns up. This time it’s a commentary on Japan’s economy. These girls look like your typical idols, but they were chosen for their personal debt.

Nine-member group The Margarines will perform and dance to get out of their combined debt of ¥127.7 million, or roughly $1.163 million USD, while tracking their remaining debt.

The girls, who are between 19 and 30 years old, were chosen in auditions after the group was announced in July and will release their first album, “Good-bye Debt Heaven“, in December.  This new group will expose the realities of living in debt, their website revealing each member’s debts ranging from ¥500,000 to ¥7 million of typical expenses like student loans and expenses  from moving to the country’s capital.

Kanami Yoda

  • Debt: 3,000,000 yen ($27,000)
  • Reason: Started a new business and failed

Natsumi Watanabe

  • Debt: 5,000,000 yen ($45,000)
  • Reason: Scammed

Yua Kinoshita

  • Debt: 3,000,000 yen ($27,000)
  • Reason: too many spas and amusement parks

Mami Nishida

  • Debt: 100,000,000 yen ($915,000)
  • Reason: parents went bankrupt

The Margarines will not be bound by dating restrictions, provided they push 10,000 units.

S/mileage adds 3 Kenshuusei to group, accepting new name suggestions

Last week, it was decided by Hello! Project Idol group S/mileage‘s first generation members Ayaka Wada and Kanon Fukuda that the group will add new members from Hello! Pro Kenshuusei, Hello! Project’s aspiring trainees.

This idea was initially proposed by Wada and Fukuda themselves, much to producer Tsunku’s surprise. Their reasoning was that the 2nd generation was worried what would happen if and when the two graduate from the group. As a result, 3 members of the Hello! Pro Kenshuusei became S/mileage’s new members!

Yamapi Previews Tracks from Upcoming Album “YOU”

Tomohisa Yamashita previously announced a new album “YOU”, to be released on October 8. As already reported, a variety of artists such as Yu Hitoto and Naoto Inti Raymi are involved in the production. Nozomi Sasaki learns Balinese dance for new DVD “Bali Paradise of Gods~ Balinese Dance”

Nozomi Sasaki attended the launch event for her new Documentary DVD “Bali Paradise of Gods~ Balinese Dance”, which was released last October 1. For the filming, Sasaki stayed in Bali, Indonesia for two weeks. The cameras chased her while she learns the traditional Balinese dance that was handed down from ancient times.

During the event, Sasaki appeared in a one pice navy blue dress. Sasaki who visited the locals a year and a half ago commented “I’m happy to be able to finally deliver it in the hands of everyone” Recalling her experience of learning the Balinese dance she says “It was tough but there is also a sense of accomplishment”.

The trailer for the DVD, which sees her swimming, trying on traditional outfits and food, and interacting with locals among others, was also released.
