The Novembers release new album “Rhapsody in beauty” worldwide on Spotify

As we’ve previously reported, alternative rock band The Novembers will be releasing their 5th studio album ‘Rhapsody in beauty’ on October 15th.  However, if you just can’t wait another week to hear the album then don’t despair – The Novembers have you covered.

As of today, ‘Rhapsody in beauty’ has been released worldwide on the music streaming service Spotify.  This move is a conscious effort by The Novembers to look beyond Japan and begin to consider activity overseas in a more serious fashion, following in the footsteps of such bands as BORIS and BO NINGEN.

The album can be found right here if you want to take a listen.  That said, ‘Rhapsody in beauty’ will still be releasing physically in Japan next week, so if you’d like to support the band, that would probably be the best way.

Dream5 release crazy disco PV for “Yo-Kai Watch” ED “Dan Dan Dubi Zuba!”

Avex trax idol group Dream5 have released the PV for their “Yo-Kai Watch” ending theme entitled “Dan Dan Dubi Zuba!

Yo-Kai Watch” is one of Japan’s hottest new Shonen anime and has been touted as “the next Pokémon” for its similar mechanics and themes. The co-ed idol group previously supplied the ending theme as well, and due to its success they were invited back to perform a secondary ending theme, this time with anime character Buri Taichou.

I could write some long-winded description of this video, but I feel like you have watch it yourself. Let me just list some key words to draw you in: pastel afros, disco song with the clothes to match, calisthenics, oversize fruits and a fun, nonsensical chorus.

Atsuko Maeda channels 1950s mom in new cookie CM

Former AKB48 center Atsuko Maeda has been chosen to star in a set of CMs for Fujiya’s Country Ma’am Soft Cookies product.

A favorite among the young (and the young at heart), each bag consists of individually wrapped soft cookies which you can eat right out of the bag or warm up by the microwave or oven for an enhanced experience. The commercial comes in five types, with Maeda styled as a 1950s mom in America with the commercial itself taking visual cues from cartoons of that era as well as the idea of kitsch. Each commercial reveals something different about the product (now with flavored spreadable toppings by the way!) alongside and puppet speaking in Kansai dialect.
