Namie Amuro Releases Trial Listening Video for All the Song on Her New Album

On June 10, Namie Amuro is set to release her new album, “_genic.” To whet appetites for the album, today Namie released a trial listening video for it. It’s pretty much a short lyric video but for each song on the album. This preview will only be available til May 20.

The video includes the previously unnamed 13th track on the album. It is titled “B Who I Want 2 B feat. U hum sneak it.” The trial listening video also includes a collaboration Namie did with famed DJ/producer David Guetta. It’s titled “What I Did For Love.” This is a special track that is being added to the album.

“_genic” sees Namie working with a variety of international producers besides Guetta. Joacim Persson, who has worked with Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez, is behind “Golden Touch.” SeventyEight worked on “Birthday”, after having worked with Kerli and Loreen. Beyonce and Sean Paul producer James “Keyz” Foye collaborated with Namie on “Anything.” SOPHIE produced “B Who I Want 2 B feat. U hum sneak it”, after having worked with Madonna and Diplo.

Cast announcement and teaser trailer for post WWII fantasy movie “Haha to Kuraseba”

Yoshinaga Sayuri and Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari co-star for the first time as parent and child in Yamada Yoji’s latest directorial work “Haha to Kuraseba” (Living with My Mother). The movie will open in cinemas on December 12. As a homage to the late author, Inoue Hisashi, the director brings the author’s final wish to the screen and wrote the story for the movie, with its setting in Nagasaki.

Nobuko (Yoshinaga Sayuri) works in Nagasaki, Japan as a midwife. Her son Koji (Ninomiya Kazunari) who died three years ago when an atomic bomb fell on the city, suddenly appears infront of her. This is director Yamada’s first fantasy work.

Kuroki Haru plays Machiko, Koji’s ex girlfriend. In addition, it was announced that Asano Tadanobu and Kato Kenichi will be joining the cast.

A teaser trailer has also been released with Koji’s voiceover:

“On August 9, 1945, 11:02 am, I died.”
“Because mother can’t let me go, I came back to see her”.

Catch an even weirder full trailer for Takashi Miike’s “Yakuza Apocalypse”

After the first images and teaser trailer were released, the full trailer for Takashi Miike’s action fantasy yakuza vampire movie “Yakuza Apocalypse: The Great War of the Underworld” (Gokudo Daisenso) is out. Starring Ichihara Hayato and Indonesian martial arts star Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, The Raid 2), the film opens in Japan on June 20, 2015.

BUMP OF CHICKEN unveil utterly gorgeous PV for “Colony” + bright and futuristic PV for “Hello, world!”

On April 22nd popular rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN released their latest Double A-side single “Hello, world! / Colony” to the public.  Now after a week of waiting the band have decided to publish the full versions of the PVs for both tracks to their official Youtube channel.

Colony’s music video is a virtual feast for the senses that was directed by the critically acclaimed Yamazaki Takashi, telling the story of a time when giants roamed a desolate world beneath the titular ‘colony’ up above, the band’s members wandering about in the rubble.  Meanwhile, Hello, world!’s video was directed by the duo of Toshi Atsunori and Bamba Shuichi (the same team that directed “ray”) and lives up to the title’s programming origins by creating “a world of light and computer technology” for BUMP to perform in.

Dragon Ball to Get New TV Anime after 18 Years in July

Dragon Ball Super, a brand new television anime inspired by Toriyama Akira‘s Dragon Ball manga, will premiere on Fuji TV and other channels in July on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. This will be the first new Dragon Ball television series since Dragon Ball GT, which aired from 1996 to 1997.

The story of the anime is set a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu, when the Earth has become peaceful once again. The voice of Goku, Gohan, and Goten, Masako Nozawa commented on the new anime, saying, “We’ve always used the word ‘chō’ (Super) with Dragon Ball in commercials, games and the like, but the fact that the series titled Dragon Ball Super is beginning is the best thing ever.”

Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki commented on the new series as well, saying, “As I read the plot [of the series] I’ve already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear…”

TUBE reveal some of the details about their upcoming 30th anniversary album

Legendary pop and surf-rock band TUBE have revealed that they’ll be releasing their first full album in 3 years on June 17th.  Known for their many odes to the summertime season, TUBE are celebrating their 30th anniversary in the Japanese music industry this year and have decided to do something extra special with this new release as a result.

“Your TUBE + My TUBE” will include two CDs – one 10-track album which was written and produced by the band themselves (My TUBE), and an 11-track album written and produced by various artists who are aiming to capture TUBE’s unique image (Your TUBE).  While there are over 15 acts involved in the project, some of the most well-known names are Tak Matsumoto (of B’z), TAKURO (of GLAY), Okuda Tamio (of Unicorn), Fujii Fumiya (formerly of The Checkers), and both Tomita Kyoko and Kishitani Kaori (formerly of PRINCESS PRINCESS).

Japan Box Office Ranking (Week of April 25- 26)

Several new movies made it to the top 10 of the box office ranking, with Cinderella setting a record Hollywood opening for this year. It will also be interesting to see how the line up of movies perform during the highly anticipated Golden Week starting April 29.

Soundscan Chart for the Week of 4/20 – 4/26

On the single side, BUMP OF CHICKEN topped the chart with “Colony / Hello,world!”, with its CD+DVD Limited Edition selling 70,739 copies. Two editions of this single took the top 2 spots on the chart.  Between its 3 editions, “Hello,world! / Colony” sold 160,350 copies, making it the best selling single this week.

On the album side, Johnny’s WEST took the top spot with “Paripipo”, with its CD+DVD Limited Edition selling 58,532 copies. Its 2 editions took the top 2 spots on the chart. Between its 2 editions, “Paripipo” sold 88,198 copies, making it the best selling album this week.
