Harajuku power couple Peco and Ryucheru are showing a different side of themselves in November’s issue of Numero TOKYO, due out the beginning of next month. The pair, that are widely known for their colorful harajuku-kei in all it’s bright glory, are going for a more mature and sophisticated look. The first image released from the shoot shows Peco in a floor length strapless gown with her wavy blonde hair cascading down her shoulders, while Ryucheru is wearing a black velvet suit. The tenants of the next season of Fuji Television‘s and Netflix‘s Terrace House will be finding themselves in paradise. Filming of the reality show will take place in the state of Hawaii. Terrace House is a non-scripted reality show that takes six strangers (3 male and 3 female) and have them move in together for a month. The show was originally aired as a T.V. segment on Fuji Television from 2012 – 2014 before a partnership was made with Netflix to move it to the streaming network with Terrace House: ‘Boys & Girls in the City‘ . Actress Ichikawa Yui (30) has given birth to her first child, a son with husband and fellow actor Totsugi Shigeyuki (42).
“A happy, healthy boy was born to us,” Ichikawa and Totsugi wrote, “The moment he was born, we couldn’t stop crying. We would like to thank everyone that has shown us support and have been cheering us on throughout.“
A man has been arrested following his death threats towards AKB48 producer Akimoto Yasushi and all the idols he produces earlier this year.
The suspect in question, 39-year-old cram school teacher Yoneda Masakuni, has admitted to the charges against him.
According to the investigation, Yoneda tweeted on June 8 at 11:40PM at Akimoto: “I will raid and kill you and the idols related to you.” Additionally, CDs produced by Akimoto were found in his Osaka home.
On September 28, TK from Ling Tosite Sigure will release his new album, “white noise.” Today, he released the music video for the album’s second track, “Wonder Palette.” The video stars Oda Lisa, who recently appeared in the film “Himitsu THE TOP SECRET.” The song and video are meant to create a sense of nostalgia. The word “icon” is thrown around a lot, but who are the real iconic females of Japanese pop? An icon should stand apart from their peers and embody the spirit of their generation. They should be distinct to a particular time and place while at the same time transcending it. That being said, Utada Hikaru is perhaps the only contemporary Japanese pop figure who fully inhabits this role. By looking at her predecessors we can find some revealing reflections of both Utada herself and the eras they helped define.
In the late 1990s, Utada’s most immediate predecessor was Namie Amuro. Her image was modern and fashionable, providing a contrast to the girly idol eras that came before and after. Namie represented a period when JPop was learning to see itself as something that could stand alongside the Western music from which it took many cues.
Utada took this and ran with it. Her background growing up in the US added extra authenticity to her already unusually polished style of R&B, leading her to surpass both Namie and her other main rival of the era, Ayumi Hamasaki.
It has been announced today via LINE LIVE, September 28, that Warner Bros. Japan and Toho Co. Ltd. will be collaborating in a big project that is the live-action adaptation of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. It has confirmed the previous rumors that has surfaced online: Yamazaki Kento aced the lead role in the said adaptation.
