This week, Kanjani8’s new single “Naguri Gaki BEAT” topped the Hot 100 chart in its first week.

AKB48’s new album “Thumbnail” topped the Hot Albums chart in its first week.

Hoshino Gen and Mr.Children Top the Digital Singles Charts for the Week of 1/25 – 1/31

This week, Hoshino Gen retook the top spot on Recochoku with “Koi”, making this the song’s 15th non-consecutive week at #1.

On iTunes, Mr.Children topped the chart for the second week in a row with “Hikari no Atelier.”

Rev. from DVL to disband in March

Dance and vocal group Rev. from DVL announced their disbandment on their official website on Monday, February 6.  The announcement also stated that their activities will end on March 31, 2017.  The members of the group wishes to pursue other routes in their life, including: finding employment, continuing school, or simply walking down a different path.  All of the members discussed their individual futures with their staff and concluded that disbandment was the best option in order to allow the members begin a new chapter in their lives.

MIYAVI to cameo in upcoming Hollywood King Kong film

Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have revealed that Japanese guitarist MIYAVI is set to make a cameo appearance in upcoming film Kong: Skull Island, the re-imagining of the mythic ape’s origins from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Ensemble cast Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly star in the movie that unleashes the mythic beast Kong. But Kong’s not the only giant creature where a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into the uncharted Pacific island’s world—unaware that they’re crossing into Kong’s domain.

I was honored to be able to work with such prolific actors like Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Riley,” a delighted MIYAVI commented.

New “Blade of the Immortal” trailer previews action scenes and MIYAVI’s theme song

A new trailer and visual is out for the live-action film of Samura Hiroaki’s “neo period drama” Mugen no Junin (Blade of the Immortal). Kimura Takuya stars as Manji, a ronin warrior cursed with an immortal body. Film opens April 29.

The previous trailer previews the climactic scene with Manji and Rin (Sugisaki Hana) surrounded by 300 enemies. He asks her, “Rin, who should I cut down?” Rin replies, “Anyone who tries to cut me down.”

The latest trailer introduces the cast, previews action scenes and the film’s theme song “Live to Die Another Day ~Sonzai Shōmei~” (Live to Die Another Day ~Proof of Existence~) by guitarist Miyavi. Director Takashi Miike wanted the song to portray Manji’s struggle, and the theme of “Are you truly alive?”
