After several years of compilations and live albums, one of which, MIKA RANMARU, was an attempt to recreate her NANA rockstar days, Mika Nakashima has returned with a new original album titled “TOUGH”. The record features all of Nakashima’s singles since 2013 and, in her usual fashion, most B-sides, both collaboration songs with Miliyah Kato as well as another version of her SALU feature where she dominates. One of the songs, “Alone”, was taken from her 2016 Songbook.

It’s been announced that J-Urban singer Che’Nelle will provide the theme song for the highly anticipated TBS Drama “Reverse”. This will be Che’Nelle’s first physical single release in nearly three years, the last being her 2014 hit “Happiness”. “Destiny” is a powerful mid-tempo ballad, a perfect fit for the moving drama. “Destiny” will also serve as the start of Che’Nelle’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
“Reverse” stars Tatsuya Fujiwara, Erika Toda, Teppei Koike, and Kis-my-ft2 member Yuta Tamamori. The plot follows Kazuhisa Fukase (Tatsuya Fujiwara) a graduate from a prestigious university. He lives a mundane boring life and his only special skill is making coffee, which always reminds him of his friend Yoshiki Hirosawa (Teppei Koike). They were close during their university days, but Yoshiki died in a tragic snowboarding accident. He eventually meets Mihoko Ochi (Erika Toda) in a coffee shop and is instantly attracted to her.
While attending a party to celebrate one of his professor’s retirement, Kazuhisa meets Kosuke Asai (Yuta Tamamori) who went snowboarding with Yoshiki the day he died. Journalist Toshio Ogasawara (Tetsuya Takeda) also makes an appearance, he’s currently investigating Yoshiki’s death. Perhaps it wasn’t just an accident? “Reverse” will begin airing in April, 2017.
“Destiny” will be physically released on April 28th. A short preview of both “Destiny” and “Reverse” can be seen below.
As previously reported, Hello!Project group C-ute will be releasing their final single “To Tomorrow / Final Squall / The Curtain Rises” on March 29th, 2017. The full MVs for “To Tomorrow” and “The Curtain Rises” have both been uploaded to C-ute’s official youtube channel.
Both songs were created by Hello!Project’s founder Tsunku. “The Curtain Rises” is a high energy dance song featuring a cool rap by all the members, and a powerful chorus. You can definitely hear the parts where Tsunku’s vocals would have been. A shame! “To Tomorrow” is an uplifting mid-tempo song with the lyrics reminiscing on C-ute’s career as a whole. During the performance scenes, C-ute’s Hello!Project kouhai serve as the backup dancers. The group will be officially disbanding in June 2017.
