Koda Kumi releases 9th remix album “DRIVING HIT’S 7”

Today marks the release of Koda Kumi‘s 9th remix album “DRIVING HIT’S 7”. After the release of the successful “DRIVING HIT’S” back in 2009, remix albums became a tradition and fan-favorite for the diva, releasing a new one every single year until 2014. The tracklist mainly consists of tracks from one of Kumi’s latest studio albums “W Face ~outside~”, as well as a few of some her most well known classics such as “Cutie Honey”, “Koi no Tsubomi”, and “Ai No Uta”.

Meanwhile, due to high demand Kumi has announced the second round of lottery tickets for select dates at her upcoming tour ” KODA KUMI LIVE TOUR 2017 ~ W FACE ~”, the tour begins on April 8th and is currently scheduled to conclude on October 10th. All the dates for the tour can be seen here.

Previews of all the songs on “DRIVING HIT’S 7” can be heard via amazon. Check out the cover and tracklist below!

Dean Fujioka to sing theme for his upcoming film “Kekkon”

It has been revealed that actor Dean Fujioka will sing the theme song for his upcoming film “Kekkon”. Titled “Permanent Vacation”, the song was specifically written for Dean and his role in the movie and is expected to fully encapsulate his devious character in the film. Dean’s first musical release was a 2013 single titled “My Dimension”. His big break came last year with the song “History Maker”, the theme to the hugely successful anime series “Yuri!!! On Ice”.

In “Kekkon” Dean plays “Kenji Urumi”, a swindling playboy who takes prey on vulnerable women convincing them that he will take their hand in marriage. He takes on various fake identities so he can’t be traced back. This is all a ruse and he eventually leaves them without actually marrying them, and takes their money with him. He pulls off his schemes with the help of a woman named Ruriko (played by Shuko) who was almost scammed by Kenji in the past. Kenji’s victims eventually launch an investigation hoping to put a stop to his antics and find out his true motive for duping all these women.

“Kekkon” will hit Japanese theaters on June 24th, 2017. A promotional poster for the film can be seen below.

SALU Raps in English on “YEDI”

On May 24, SALU will release his new album, “INDIGO.” This is his fourth album and his first self-produced one. The album’s title comes from an idea SALU had while making the album about the color indigo. Indigo dye is used to make jeans, which often bleed onto lighter colored fabrics. SALU wants his new album to be something common, like jeans, and he wants people to soak his new music in like indigo dye.

Ahead of the album’s release, SALU has released the music video for one of the new songs on the album, “YEDI.” The song is in English and exposes SALU’s hidden dark side. Check it out below, along with the new album’s covers!

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s MV for “Easta” is one of the saddest things you’ll see in 2017

Let’s be honest: with “HARAJUKU IYAHOI”, most people (including me) saw a glimpse of hope in Kyary Pamyu Pamyu‘s career. After almost three years of completely shallow and boring music -leaving aside a few exceptions- the audience finally got a catchy and enjoyable track coupled by a super nice Music Video, which is everything the fans (and Kyary herself) needed at that point. The intention of putting the singer back on track was apparently clear: even just the fact the song title had the name “Harajuku” in it was giving fans hope, as the correlation between the singer and the internationally famous fashion district of Tokyo drifted down into the abyss during the course of her career.
