Things Namie Amuro did, that. The singers latest best album Finally has sold over 1 million copies in it’s first week, with the album officially crossing the million mark after only six days.
Oricon reports that physical sales for the album after just one week currently stand at 1.113 million copies. This is the first time in over 13 years that a Japanese artist has been able to accomplish this feat. The last album to sell over 1 million copies in a week was Hikaru Utada’s Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 1 released on March 31st, 2004.
This is Amuro’s second album overall to sell over a million copies in a week, her first being her second studio album SWEET 19 BLUES.
Furthermore, with this album Amuro has made history by being the only artist to achieve million selling albums in her teens, 20s, 30s and 40s. At 18 years old in 1995 she set the bar high with her first studio album DANCE TRACKS VOL. 1, it went on to sell over 1.8 million copies. Amuro recently celebrated her 40th birthday on September 20th.
Finally contains over 52 songs, the singles span her entire career from 1992-2017. The songs included from Mister U.S.A up until 2014’s Tsuki all contain new vocals, 6 completely new songs were also recorded for the album. Amuro will be retiring next year on September 16th, 2018.

Next season’s getsu9 drama will star Yoshine Kyoko! Yoshine will play the protagonist Kurashita Tsukimi in the live action television series adaptation of Higashimura’s Akiko “Kuragehime” (Princess Jellyfish). The series will premiere in January on Fuji TV, Monday, 9pm. Yoshine is best known for her lead asadora role “Beppin-san” last year. “Kuragehime” was also adapted into an anime series and a live action film starring Nonen Rena in 2014.
There’s been several uncertainties regarding the production of next season’s getsu9. Initially, Season 2 of medical drama “Fragile “(Nagase Tomoya) is scheduled to air, but its heroine Takei Emi will be on maternity leave and so the broadcast of the drama is reportedly postponed pushing Fuji TV to make changes. In replacement, next season’s drama was changed to “Kuragehime” starring Yoshine Kyoko.
This week, Keyakizaka46 topped the Hot 100 chart for the second week in a row with “Kaze ni Fukarete mo.”
Yonezu Kenshi topped the Hot Albums chart with his new album “BOOTLEG.”
DAOKO x Yonezu Kenshi topped the Streaming Songs chart with “Uchiage Hanabi” for the fifth non-consecutive week.
Yonezu Kenshi topped the Download Songs chart with “Haiiro to Ao.”
Yonezu Kenshi also topped the Download Albums chart with “BOOTLEG.”

Last month we reported that hard rock duo B’z would be releasing their latest full-length album “DINOSAUR” on November 29th. Ahead of this date, the group have announced that the record’s title track will be used as the theme song for the Japanese release of film “Geostorm.”
In conjunction with this reveal, the duo have also published the full PV for “Dinosaur” to their Youtube channel. The music video features B’z rocking out amidst an environment meant to be reminiscent of the time when dinosaurs walked the Earth, with a bit of added theatrical flair.

For the past year, rock trio ACIDMAN have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of their formation. Now, as these festivities are finally drawing to a close, the group has announced that they will be releasing a brand new studio album next month on December 13th.
Titled “Λ (‘Lambda’)”, this release will include the band’s previously released tracks “Saigo no Hoshi”, “Ai wo Ryoute ni”, “Mizu no Yoru ni”, and “Millennium”, as well as eight more new songs for a total of 12. One of these tracks, “Kuuhaku no Tori”, has already been selected as the theme song for upcoming film “Kenen.”

Tokai TV, a channel affiliated with Fuji network, is making a re-make of Canadian hit show ‘Orphan Black’. Heriting the lead role from Tatiana Maslany, former KARA member Kang Ji-Young will play seven identical women who turn out to be clones.
NHK WORLD will be broadcasting internationally a 2 – day special music program NHK WORLD presents SONGS OF TOKYO. Presenting Japanese music to the world before 2020’s Olympics, the program will air on NHK World on January 1 and 2. It will also be broadcast on NHK General TV on January 8. The event will be presented by Kanjani8’s Shingo Murakami and NHK announcer Yumiko Udo.
