Singer Daichi Miura has been appointed the singer of a very special, and unique project. With the Heisei era coming to an end, the abdication of Emperor Akihito will take place on April 30th. The following day Crown Prince Naruhito will ascend to the throne.
On February 24th an event will be taking place to honor Akihito’s 30 year-reign. Daichi will be performing a song written by Emperor Akihito, while his wife Empress Michiko will create the composition.
Rock legend YOSHIKI has teamed up with production company The H Collective to create music for the latest installment of the successful xXx film franchise. The film will feature a theme song with music written by YOSHIKI. xXx 4 is in pre-production with casting currently under way, and principal photography set to commence later this year.
Starring American actor Vin Diesel, the first xXx film came out in 2002 and went on to gross over 250 million dollars. He plays the role of Xander Cage, a thrill seeking stuntman who becomes a spy for the National Security Agency.
Further details on Dean Fujioka‘s upcoming studio album “History In The Making” has been revealed.
The actor and singer will be including a brand new version of his hit “History Maker” on the album, but he will be joined by a very special guest. Actor, singer, and seiyu Toshiyuki Toyonaga will be providing vocals for the new version.
It has been announce that top Johnny’s talent Tomohisa Yamashita will be starring in a brand new drama series. “In Hand” is a managa series that was created by Ao Akato.
Akato originally launched In Hand only around three years ago in March 2016, originally as a mini-series. After proving to be a success, the it started to receive a regular serialization in October 2018.

On NHK a special documentary was aired titled “The Last Confession of Namie Amuro“, which is part of a special set of shows celebrating the end of the Heisei era.
A previous interview aired back in August 2018, just a month before Namie Amuro officially retired from the entertainment industry. When her retirement was originally announced back in September 2017, no official reason was ever given. Some fans simply speculated that she just wanted to enjoy the rest of her life out of the spotlight.

Idaten features a 2 part story starring Nakamura Kankuro as marathon runner Kanakuri Shiso and Abe Sadao as swimming coach Tabata Masaji. Fuji TV’s getsu9 is starting its rumored continuous seasons of medical dramas with “Trace ~ Kasouken no Otoko” starring Nishikido Ryo. Takako Tokiwa is starring in in a TBS Sunday Drama “The Good Wife” for the first time in 19 years since legendary drama “Beautiful Life”. Kitagawa Keiko is back as the relentless real-estate saleswomanin “Ie Uru Onna no Gyakushu” and you can catch Takizawa Hideaki’s last drama before retirement with “Kokou no Mesu”.

The 42nd Japan Academy Prize Association for excellence in film announced its winners and nominees for the Grand Prizes. All nominees for the top prize receive “Awards of Excellence”. The Grand Prize will be presented in a ceremony on March 1 in Tokyo.
Nominated for Picture of the Year are: “Kamera o tomeru na!” (One Cut of the Dead ), “Kita no Sakuramori” (Sakura Guardian in the North), “Korou no Chi” (The Blood of Wolves), “Soratobu Taiya” (Recall), and “Manbiki no Kazoku” (Shoplifters)
Aoi Yu (Best Actress winner last year) and Nishida Toshiyuki (Vice Chairman of the committee and host for the last 6 years) will serve as moderators for the event. Movies are eligible if they opened in Japan between December 16, 2017 to December 15, 2018.
