Today well-known singer/songwriter Yumi Matsutoya published the music video for her latest track “Shinkai no Machi” to her YouTube channel. “Shinkai no Machi” is currently being used as the ending theme song for TV Tokyo’s late night news program “World Business Satellite”.
The PV is a stylish affair which fuses animation and technological imagery with an atmosphere straight out of the 1980s. Self-described as “Neo City Pop”, the song is the first sign of Matsutoya’s upcoming 39th studio album, which will attempt to mesh 70s and 80s fusion and AOR with more modern influences – among them current acts like Suchmos and Sakanaction.
You’ll find the enthralling music video for “Shinkai no Machi” below.
It’s been revealed that veteran singer/songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita will be providing the theme song for the upcoming TBS drama “Grand Maison Tokyo”. The drama, which stars actor Takuya Kimura, focuses on the story of a chef who struggles to earn the coveted third Michelin star for his establishment after being forced to start over from scratch.
This marks the first time which Yamashita has provided a song for a drama starring Kimura in 16 years, when the former’s “RIDE ON TIME” was used as the theme song for popular serial “GOOD LUCK!!”. The track itself, titled “RECIPE”, has been described as an adult love song characterized by mellow rhythms and Tatsuro’s carefree singing voice.
No details about RECIPE’s release have been revealed as of yet, but expect that information to be posted as soon as it’s available. In the meanwhile, check out the most recent teaser for “Grand Maison Tokyo” below.
