It’s that time of the year again, Nihon Monitor and Video Research Ltd. have released their lists for the coveted title of CM King and Queen for 2020!

For the men this year coming in first place is none other than Arashi member Sho Sakurai! This is Sakurai’s 2nd year in a row as king, where he tied with fellow Arashi member Masaki Aiba. The other 3 Arashi members also had an extremely impressive showing, where they all ranked within the top 10.

Sakurai appeared in commercials for 19 companies this year, and Aiba appeared in 17. Check out the full male ranking below:

It has been announced that top actors Takeru Sato and Hikaru Mitushima will be starring in a brand new Netflix drama series titled “First Love“. This drama will be based off of the songs “First Love” and “Hatsukoi” by legendary songstress Hikaru Utada. Many of Utada’s songs has served as the theme for dramas and films, but this is the very first time an original drama will be produced inspired by her songs.

The drama will follow three different time periods, the 90s, 00s, and present day. All of them are interlaced showcasing a pair of men and women’s unforgettable “first love” spanning over 20 years. It will be directed by Yuri Kanchiku, who previously directed AKB48’s documentary “To Be Continued” and Erika Sawajiri’s drama series “Let M The Reason I Love You”.

Johnny’s has announced that Sexy Zone member Marius Yo will be going on hiatus due to very poor physical health. All performances and planned appearances will be cancelled effective immediately so he can completely focus on recovering.

Yo has been under a lot of stress lately trying to balance his very busy entertainment career, along with being a university student. Yo puts a lot of pressure on himself so he can excel at both academics and his entertainment career. He was officially diagnosed by a doctor and Johnny’s considers his physical and mental health the biggest priority. It has not been revealed how long Yo will be on hiatus for.

Kalen Anzai is back with her 4th digital single of the year, and 7th overall. “Secret Love” is the official theme song for the MBS drama series “Shanai Marraige Honey” starring Mizuki Itagaki and Airi Matsui. The song has been descried as a classic “girls pop” song filled with sweet elements.

In the MV Anzai is in a brightly colored room where she does a bunch of random tasks such as yoga, hula hooping, typing on a type writer, and line a bunch of apples on a table. Check out the full MV below:

LiSA also topped the Streaming chart for the sixth consecutive week with “Homura”, with 12,923,771 streams in its sixth week.

Kumi Koda has released a brand new set of mini-albums celebrating her 20th anniversary in the industry, titled angeL + monsteR [MY NAME IS…]. Each mini-album contains 6 songs each, and the DVD and blu-ray for the albums contain MVs for the tracks puff, XXKK, Killer MonsteR, and RUN. The fanclub edition of the album has exclusive making-of footage.

To prep for the album release, the “QUEEN OF LIVE” uploaded a video on YouTube seemingly aimed at international fans, giving a short history on her career and information about her anniversary and upcoming tour. Unfortunately, within a day it was deleted but hopefully it’s uploaded again!
