On March 8, the “SPACE SHOWER MUSIC AWARDS 2021” were held. The big prize of the night, ARTIST OF THE YEAR, went to Official HIGE DANdism. Yonezu Kenshi‘s “Kanden” won VIDEO OF THE YEAR. His album “STRAY SHEEP” also won ALBUM OF THE YEAR. YOASOBI‘s “Yoru ni Kakeru” won SONG OF THE YEAR. BTS won the PEOPLE’S CHOICE award. Fujii Kaze won BEST BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST. INTERSECTION member Kazuma has suddenly announced that he is leaving “CHUANG 2021” due to family issues. In a Weibo video, he apologized to his fans and thanked them for their support. He added that their support gives him hope that he will someday be able to fulfill his dream. He also apologized to his INTERSECTION groupmates Mika and Caelan, since they went to China together with the dream that they would debut there together.

Johnny’s group Kanjani8 recently held a special episode on their variety show “KanJam Kanzen Nen SHOW” where they asked 48 professional musicians to determine to best popular J-POP songs from the past 20 years, January 1st 2000 until December 31st 2020.

The musicians selected ranged from session musicians, to vocal coaches and producers. It seems quite difficult to condense 20 years of music into a top 30 list, so only one artist is represented in the list. The only exception to this is SMAP who has two songs on the ranking. Coming in at number 1 is none other than the band Official HIGE DANdism.

It has been announced that Sexy Zone member Kento Nakajima will be starring in a brand new Netflix film alongside actress Honoka Matsumoto titled “Sakura no Yona Boku no Koibito“.

Hikaru Utada has released the MV for her highly anticipated track “One Last Kiss“. It was written as the theme for the upcoming animated film “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time“

“One Last Kiss” will appear on the mini-album of the same name, which features songs used for the previous Evangelion films. Both the album and film were supposed to come out in January, but were delayed due to the government extending the COVID-19 state of emergency. “One Last Kiss” is out March 10th and “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time“ came out today.
