As part of AramaJapan’s expanded music show coverage in 2015, we will now be posting TV Tokyo’s “Premium MelodiX!” This Monday night show is a mix of performances and interviews. In this first episode of 2015, the guests were SEKAI NO OWARI, May J., MERRY, and Yamazaki Aoi.

Utada Hikaru Confirms Via Twitter That She Is Working On New Music

On Sunday, Utada Hikaru took to Twitter to reveal the provisional title of a new song she is is currently working on. The singer, who has been on hiatus since 2010, said she has been working on the song since New Year’s Day. At the current time, the song has the working title “Sashiire Cappuccino.”

During this series of tweets, she also revealed the working titles of some of her past songs. “Flavor of Life” had the working title “Yasukute Oishii Mikan”, while “Onna wa Yakei ni Yowai” eventually became “Eclipse (Interlude).” She also revealed that she had another song with the provisional title of “Shoppai Misoshiru” but couldn’t remember what song it eventually became.

The Fine Brothers Release “Teens React to J-pop”

On Sunday, The Fine Brothers released the latest video in their “React” series on YouTube. For those unfamiliar with this YouTube channel, a group of kids, teens, or elders are given a topic by the channel’s users and asked to react to it. In the past, there was a “Kids React to K-pop” video which caused much discussion within the KPop fandom. Today, it’s JPop’s turn. However, instead of kids reviewing JPop videos, it’s teenagers. Find out what these unsuspecting teens thought of videos by Perfume, EXILE, and AKB48 after the jump!

V6 sings “BREAK OUT” for anime “FAIRY TAIL” new opening theme

V6 will be singing the new opening theme of TV Tokyo anime “FAIRY TAIL”, starting January. The song is titled “BREAK OUT” and is the anime’s 18th opening theme.

The anime “FAIRY TAIL” is based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine”. It follows the adventures of Lucy Heartfilia, a teenage wizard who runs away from home to join Fairy Tail, a wizards’ guild and teams up with fellow guild member Natsu Dragneel.

Ohara Sakurako sings “Hitomi” at Komazawa Park, releases acapella PV

Ohara Sakurako has released her 2nd single “Hitomi” last January 7.  The said song is written, composed, and produced by Kameda Seiji, who did the same for her first single. “Hitomi” also serves as the cheer song for the “93rd National High School Football Championships”.

For her music video, CHOKU served as the director. The director has previously worked on GReeeeN’s PV for “Kiseki”. The shooting took place at the Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo.

The short version of her music video and an acapella version PV has also been released. Check out her refreshing new song below, as well as her acoustic take on “Hitomi” and her single details.

Arashi to provide theme song of drama “Ouroboros”

It was announced that Arashi’s first single of 2015, titled “Sakura” will be released on February 25. The song will be the theme song of the new TBS drama OUROBOROS ~ Kono Ai Koso, Seigi (January 16, 10 pm) starring Ikuta Toma, who belong to the same agency as Arashi, and Oguri Shun. This is the group’s first drama theme song starring a non-member.

The press conference for the drama was held today. Regarding the theme song, Ikuta Toma is glad that Arashi has participated to provide the theme song, it has become an encouraging boost. He stated “As a friend and Arashi’s number one fan, I am really happy. Thank you, Arashi!”. Oguri Shun on the other hand talks about having appeared several times in a drama with an Arashi theme song, and how this will be the 5th time.
