NEWS member Shigeaki Kato’s first novel “Pink and Grey” will be made into a live action film adaptation starring Hey! Say! JUMP’s Nakajima Yuto. Yukisada Isao who also directed “Crying Out Love, In the Center of the World”, will be directing the movie.
“Pink and Grey” was published in 2012 and has sold 160,000 copies. The novel is set in the entertainment industry and tells the story of success and failure between best friends, where one became a star while the other does not. Nakajima will play the role of Kawata Daiki, the unknown actor who witnesses his famous friend die before him. Some scenes that are not in the novel will appear in the movie.
Exciting news for MIYAVI fans, it’s been announced that he will be a guest on one of America’s most popular talk shows “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”!
The “Samurai Guitarist” will sit down with Ellen and talk about the transition from being a rock star to gracing the silver screen and working with Hollywood’s elite. In “Unbroken” MIYAVI plays a ruthless villain, a supervisor in a Japanese interment camp who does everything in his power to break his victims. “Unbroken” is the directorial debut of Angela Jolie and has already grossed over $100 million worldwide. On January 14, the 38th Japan Academy Prize held its conference to announce its nominees. Okada Junichi was nominated for two of the Grand Prizes for Excellence in Acting: Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
Previously in Johnny’s office, SMAP‘s Kimura Takuya has declined a nomination in 2006 for his performance in “Love and Honor” under Japan Academy Prize. It was due to the agency’s policy that they “don’t participate in this prize race” because “superiority or inferiority should not be attached to a talent”. Furthermore, Okada and Kimura both declined a nomination back in 2007 under Blue Ribbon Awards. (Ikuta Toma accepted and won Blue Ribbon Best Newcomer award in 2011)
As previously reported, Shiina Ringo is set to release her new single “Shijou no Jinsei” on February 25.
