Chara releases 8mm film video for “Koi wa Me wo Tojite”

Singer-songwriter Chara has published the music video for new song “Koi wa Me wo Tojite” to her official YouTube channel.

The intimate home-video style clip was shot in 8mm film by filmmaker Daisuke Shimada, a close friend to Chara. With the personal conceptual theme of the album, the video continues that with content focused on Chara’s private life as she walks her dog and plays piano at home.

Koi wa Me wo Tojite” serves as the lead track to her upcoming album “Secret Garden due out March 4 that will compile new songs with previous singles “hug”, “Setsunakute Gomen ne” and “Koibumi”.

Okada Junichi to Challenge Mt. Everest in New Movie

V6’s Okada Junichi will challenge filming in an altitude of 6,000 meters for his new starring film titled “Everest: Kamigami no Itadaki” (Everest: the Summit of Gods). Filming will start in Nepal this March. After successful roles in “Eien no Zero” and “Higurashino-Ki”, Okada is is set to fully open his inherent physical capabilities for his new role in the movie which is based from Yumemakura Baku‘s original novel.

Okada will play the role of Fukamachi Makoto, a photographer who found a camera supposedly own by British mountaineer George Mallory who went missing in the Everest until his body was found in 1999. Fascinated by Mallory’s past and if he did reach the world’s highest peak, Fukamachi will embark on a climb with legendary climber, Joji Habu to be played by Abe Hiroshi, a genius who isolates himself because of his reckless personality . In addition, actress Machiko Ono will play Kishi Ryoko, a woman who loves a climber and tries to find him.

WaT’s Wentz Eiji and Koike Teppei to resume music activities

Singer songrwiter duo WaT, comprised of Wentz Eiji and Koike Teppei will restart their music activities. WaT started working together in 2002 and made their major debut with “Boku no Kimochi” in November 2005. In December of the same year, they appeared in NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen. Since then, the duo was busy with CD releases and lives, but due to each other’s solo activities, they have not been active since their last single “24/7~Mo ichido~” released last December 2010.

WaT is scheduled to release a new CD and hold a Live in 2015, and is currently in the midst of production of new songs. It has been almost 5 years since their last CD released and 7 years since their last Hibiya Kokaido concert in May, 2008.

Following the news release, Koike Teppei has also updated his blog to announce their restart and to thank fans for waiting. He also mentioned that for this year, WaT will be given priority.

Takizawa Kabuki heads to Singapore for first overseas performance

It was announced that Takizawa Hideaki’s starring stage play “Takizawa Kabuki” will be holding its first overseas performance in Singapore. Production announcement was held in Tokyo. “Takizawa Kabuki 10th Anniversary” will be held at The Grand Theater of the Marina Bay Sands for 6 days, from August 18 -23. Since this will be the first time that Johnny Kitagawa will bring this play overseas, expect comprehensive planning, configuration, and production.

There are also plans to prepare new songs in English. Co-stars for the Singapore show are yet to be announced.

Sakurako Ohara has completed recording her first full album “HAPPY”

Actress and singer Sakurako Ohara has revealed details for her upcoming 12-track album “HAPPY” due out March 25.

The album will be released through her label Victor Entertainment and contains her previous maxi singles “Hitomi“, which was used as the cheer song of the 93rd National High School soccer championships, and “Thank you” along with the studio recording of coupling track “Ganbattatte iin janai“. Additionally, two of the songs, “Chippokena Ai no Uta” and “Ashita mo”, were previously heard when she played the lead role of FUJI TV film “Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru“.

With the 7 new tracks on the album, Ohara worked with a new songwriting team including Yoichiro Nomura, O-live and Shinpei Nozaki.

Rinko Kikuchi and Nana Komatsu to play mother-daughter in “Yume wo Ataeru”

A brand new drama mini-series “Yume wo Ataeru” is set to begin broadcast on WOWOW this May.

The drama is based on the novel of the same name published in 2007 by Risa Wataya and details the relationship between a mother and daughter played by Rinko Kikuchi and Nana Komatsu. Additionally, it is the breakout role for half-French actor De Lencquesaing Thomas Nozomi who plays the role of husband to Kikuchi and father to Komatsu.

Thirteen years prior to the main story arc, the French-Japanese Abe family moved to a town in the suburbs. A model of the perfect family, their beautiful daughter, Yuko, takes part in a commercial audition and was hand-selected by the director of the advertising agency.

Years later, on the cusp of her mainstream popularity, Yuko transfers to a large entertainment company and her career takes off as she covers magazines and is featured on variety shows and in drama series. Troubled by the difficulties of balancing her public and personal life, her nightmare begins…

Concerning her experience of reading the screenplay, Komatsu commented that she thought the story was interesting and she was surprised she was able to relate to her character’s struggles with fame.

Yume wo Ataeru” will air on WOWOW’s Saturdays 22:00 time slot starting this May.
