Perfume Releases Video for “STORY (SXSW-MIX)”

Last night, Perfume performed at South By Southwest. At this show, the group debuted “STORY (SXSW-MIX).” The performance was livestreamed on YouTube for their fans worldwide to see. The group has now released the video of this performance on YouTube for those who didn’t see it when it originally happened. It is an audio-visual feast. Check it out after the jump!

Yoshii Kazuya unveils bright, neon PV for “(Everybody is) Like a Starlight”

As we reported previously, famous rocker Yoshii Kazuya was preparing to release his 7th full album “STARLIGHT” on March 18th of this year.  Now that that date has finally arrived, he has chosen to publish the music video for the album’s lead track “(Everybody is) Like a Starlight” to his record label’s official Youtube channel.

The PV features Yoshii dancing and rocking out to the old school classic rock tune as neon lights flash all around him; additionally, some more modern fading effects and a little bit of CG are thrown in to spice up the video just a bit more.

Gesu no Kiwami Otome. release details on their new single + to provide first movie theme song

Up-and-coming jazz/hip-hop band Gesu no Kiwami Otome. recently announced that they’ll be releasing their second single “Watashi Igai Watashi Janai no” (“Not a Me Other than Me”) on April 22nd of this year.  Now the group have chosen to reveal all of the details regarding the release itself, including its covers and the complete contents of its track list, which will include a special ‘Funky Version’ of their already released song “Parallel Spec”.

In addition, the band have also announced that they will be providing both the theme song and an insert song for upcoming action movie “Strayer’s Chronicle”.  The theme song will be titled “Romance ga Ariamaru” (“Romance to Spare”) and has been described as a chaotically busy track involving all of the band’s instruments as well as synths, while the insert song will be titled “Saidentity” and is set to play during a particularly dramatic scene in the second half of the film.

Alice Releases Short PV for “CHOICE”

On March 18, R&B singer Alice is set to release her new single “CHOICE.” This is her first single since 2013’s “X LOVERS II”, which featured rapper SHUN. “CHOICE” is a midtempo song which features Alice’s powerful vocals. Ahead of the single’s release, she has released a short music video for the song. The video features Alice singing the song in various locations, including on the city streets and at home. Tomomi Kahala to Release First Original Single in 9 Years

On May 20, Tomomi Kahala will release her new single “Hajimari no Uta ga Kikoeru.” This will be her first original single since 2006’s “Ano Sayonara ni Sayonara wo / Unmei no Ito.” “Hajimari no Uta ga Kikoeru” sees Tomomi reuniting with former producer/boyfriend Tetsuya Komuro. He composed the song, while she wrote the lyrics. This is the first time the former couple has worked on new material together since 1998. Soon after the release of Tomomi’s 3rd album, “nine cubes”, the couple broke up. This was the beginning of a dark period for Tomomi. In recent years, she’s made a comeback, covering her old songs and those of other singers. She’s even reunited with TK for various television appearances.

“Hajimari no Uta ga Kikoeru” will serve as the ending theme for TV Tokyo’s “Suiyo Mystery 9”, starting April 1. Tomomi, who is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her music debut this year, says that the song marks the beginning of a new journey for her. Perfume to Livestream South By Southwest Concert

On March 18, Perfume is set to perform at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, United States. South By Southwest is a large annual festival/conference that combines the fields of music, film, and interactive. As a special treat to fans, Perfume’s concert will be livestreamed via YouTube. The livestream can be seen on the YouTube channel SXSW Japan Rep. The concert will be taking place at 1AM Central Standard Time, the local timezone for Austin.

During this show, Perfume will debut “STORY (SXSW-MIX)”, the mysterious song that was mentioned on the group’s fan-sourced translation project “Perfume Translyrics Project.”

Ayumi Hamasaki Reveals Covers for “A ONE” and PV for “The GIFT”

As previously reported, Ayumi Hamasaki is set to release her new album “A ONE” on April 8. She previously released the tracklist and some previews for the album. Now she has release the covers for the album. As an additional treat, she has released the music video for her collaborative song with CPop singer JJ Lin. Titled “The GIFT”, the song is an emotional ballad that pushed Ayu to tears upon first hearing it. The music video for the song has a wedding theme and is shot in a muted, yet tasteful, color palate.
