KOHH Announces New Mixtape

On June 30, KOHH will release the third mixtape of his “YELLOW T△PE” series. “YELLOW T△PE 3” will have 24 tracks. It will include some old songs as well as some new songs. Among the old songs are several tracks with have featured KOHH, such as Keith Ape’s “It G Ma”, DJ SOULJAH’s “aaight”, ANARCHY’s “Moon Child”, and the remix of AKLO’s “Break the Records.” Among the new songs on “YELLOW T△PE 3” are a song by his brother LIL KOHH and a freestyle over tofubeats’ “Drum Machine.” Another one of the new songs is “Mainichi da na.” Today, KOHH released the music video for the song. It’s a simple video featuring him recording the song.

Today, KOHH is also releasing altered versions of the 2 previous “YELLOW T△PE” mixtapes. These are being released as part of a “Complete Collection” series, even though they have shorter tracklists than the original mixtapes.

Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi to hold his second art exhibition “FREESTYLE II”

Arahi’s Ohno Satoshi will be holding his second art exhibition “FREESTYLE II” in Tokyo, Omotesando Space O. The exhibit will be held on July 24 – August 23. This comes 7 years after his first art exhibition “FREESTLYE”, which was held in 2008.

In addition, Ohno will be holding his first overseas art exhibition “FREESTYLE in Shanghai 2015” in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Johhan Art Museum on July 9 – 29 this year. The exhibit in China will display pieces from the first FREESTYLE (50 – 60 sculptures and 20 paintings). Ohno “I did not imagine to hold an exhibit overseas. I wonder what kind of reaction would they have? It’s very interesting.”

New works will be displayed in Tokyo, 15 sculptures and 15 paintings. His artwork collection book “FREESTYLE II” will be released on July 24.

Sakigake! Ongaku no Jikan for May 17

This week’s guests was Sambomaster. They performed one song. This week’s talk guests were Rekishi and Otani Nobuhiko. There were also talks segments with Hoshino Gen & Abe Sadao, T.M.Revolution, and FTISLAND. There was a behind the scenes clip on the recent Viva La Rock festival that featured talk clips with Kameda Seiji, Pierre Nakano, Nagaoka Ryosuke, Tsuno Maisa, and cero.

Syrup16g reveal striking and emotional Music Video for “Tsumetai Tenohira”

Ahead of the release of their new EP “Kranke”, famous indie rock band syrup16g have uploaded the PV for its lead track “Tsumetai Tenohira” (“Cold Palm”) to Youtube.  “Tsumetai Tenohira” serves as the opening song on “Kranke” and is a slow-burning, melancholy rock ballad meant to evoke such feelings from its listeners.

The PV itself was directed by Fukatsu Masakazu, known for his prior work with ONE OK ROCK (“NO SCARED”, “Clock Strikes”) and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION (“Kaiga Kyoushitsu”, “Yoru wo Koete”).  The video is filmed entirely from the perspective of the palm of one’s hand and the images displayed within are meant to represent the vast range of views and perspectives that can be found there.

Shonan no Kaze releases action-packed MV

Recently, Japanese reggae group, Shonan no Kaze, released a new music video “Z ~Orera Teki Gyakushuu~“. The song will serve as the theme song for the movie, Z Island, in which member RED RICE is part of the cast. Shinagawa Hiroshi also serves as the supervising directory of the movie. As such, the music video features action-packed scene from the video.

It should be noted that the song is currently out for sale under recochoku but you can pick up it’s physical copy via Shonan no Kaze’s upcoming 6th album, “Shonan no Kaze ~COME AGAIN~“. This album is due to be released on May 27th, so be sure to pick it up when it drops.
