Nogizaka46 and DREAMS COME TRUE top the weekly Oricon charts! 07/20-07/26

The Oricon weekly physical music sales charts for the week of 07/20 – 07/26 have been released!

Touted as AKB48’s official rivals, Nogizaka46 conquer the singles charts with their twelfth single “Taiyou Knock” with powerful numbers. Their latest summer hit, which was used as the opening theme for the TV Tokyo dorama Hatsumori Bemars, boasted a sweet 609,202 sales in its first week and secured them a number one spot.

For the album charts, Japanese pop-rock group DREAMS COME TRUE top it for the third week in a row with DREAMS COME TRUE THE BEST! Watashi no Dorikamu, their seventh best album and latest in four years, shooting to the top of the album charts pushing and additional 79,924 on top of last week’s 119,560 units, on top of its debut sales of 344,395.

TOWA TEI Releases Short PV for His Collaboration with UA

Tomorrow, TOWA TEI will release his new album, “CUTE.” The album features appearances by several collaborators, including Cornelius, Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Leo Imai, and Yuka Mizuhara. Today, he released the short music video for another of the album’s collaborative efforts: “SOUND OF MUSIC” featuring UA. The clip features moody crystalline animation. The full music video will be available to those who purchase the album via a QR code which links to a special website. Check out the video after the jump!

12 Cast Announced for Takashi Miike’s “Terraformars” Live-Action Film

Following the announcement that Ito Hideaki will play as the protagonist Komachi Shokichi in the live action film adaptation of Tachibana Kenichi and Sasuga Yu’s sci-fi action manga series Terraformars, the 12 cast for the other characters have also been revealed. It is also confirmed that most of the non-Japanese characters’ nationalities are changed to Japanese.

The movie adapts the Bugs 2 arc from the manga’s first volume. The Takashi Miike-directed film will be also filmed in Iceland this August, where never been used for Japanese live-action films before, and is scheduled to finish its shooting in February 2016. It It will be distributed by Warner Brothers Japan (Death Note, Rurouni Kenshin) in the Golden Week holiday of 2016.

RHYMESTER Releases PV for “Galapogos”

On July 29, RHYMESTER is set to release their new album, “Bitter, Sweet & Beautiful.” This is the group’s first album since 2013’s “Dirty Science.” The album features production by the likes of BACHLOGIC, PUNPEE, and KREVA. PUNPEE also features on 2 of the songs.

RHYMESTER recently released the music video for the album’s 9th track, the BACHLOGIC-produced “Galapagos.” In the clip, the members of RHYMESTER play scientists. The music video features cameos from SALU, NORIKIYO, and DJ Izo. Check it out after the jump, along with the cover and tracklist for the album!

Toki Asako Releases PV for “BOY from Setagaya”

Tomorrow, Toki Asako is set to release her new album, “Bittersweet.” Ahead of the album’s release, she has released a music video for the album’s second track, “BOY from Setagaya.” The music video for this upbeat summery song is mostly animated, with a few live action clips of Asako thrown in. In the video the cartoon version of the singer runs around Tokyo with a cartoon duck. Check it out after the jump!
