Furukawa Yuki currently stars in the new Fuji TV drama “5→9 ~Watashi ni Koi Shita Ikemen Sugiru Obousan~”, along side Ishihara Satomi and Yamashita Tomohisa. His new film “Lychee Hikari Club” recently debuted at The Busan International Film Festival. His looks have enabled him to rise in the Japanese movie and television industries, but he also has studied acting, in addition to being a graduate of Keio University’s science program. With an ability to speak English and an international outlook, he made a presentation in English earlier this week at The Tokyo International Film Festival. After his presenation, Yuki sat down with noted American entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter to discuss the acting scene in Japan. He had some good and bad things to say.

Keeping with tradition, this month’s edition of Japanese entertainment magazine Only★Star contains the results of their annual Favorite Artist poll. This ranking is based on a survey that the Oricon-owned publication runs each year which polls 20,000 Japanese citizens of various different age groups in order to acquire a respectable representation of the public’s opinion. While it is likely not totally accurate, the poll remains a very interesting statistic to consider, particularly when compared to the results for previous years.
Though there were a number of shifts over the past year, popular idol act Arashi has retained the #1 spot for the sixth year in a row, the group further extending their own record for most years at the top; they’re followed by veteran pop-rock band Mr.Children at #2 and pop trio Ikimonogakari at #3. Of note, Arashi also topped the rankings for both the 10s and 20s demographics, with Mr.Children and hard rock duo B’z on top for the 30 and 40-year olds respectively.

On October 21, G.RINA will release her new album, “Lotta Love.” This is her first album since 2010’s “MASHED PIECES #2.” “Lotta Love” sees G.RINA collaborating with the likes of tofubeats, Yakenohara, PUNPEE, LUVRAW, and KASHIF.
Today, G.RINA released the music video for “Ai no Maboroshi.” The song features tofubeats. It is an answer song to her previous collaboration him, “No.1“, from his 2013 indie album “lost decade.” Check it out after the jump, along with more information on the album!
On October 21, SOLIDEMO will release their debut album, “8 Collars.” The album will include the singles “THE ONE”, “Heroine”, “Rafflesia”, and “Girlfriend.” “8 Collars” will come in 2 editions: a CD+DVD edition and a CD only edition. The CD that comes with the CD+DVD edition will have 13 songs, while the CD only edition will have 7 songs. The DVD that comes with CD+DVD edition will contain footage from a show SOLIDEMO had this past April in celebration of their 1st anniversary.

On November 11, Suiyoubi no Campanella will release their new album, “Zipang.” Today, they released the music video for a song titled “Ra.” The clip is set in ancient Egypt, fitting seeing as how the song is named after the ancient Egyptian sun god. The sumptuous clip is an orgy of gold, a metal favored by ancient Egyptians.
Also today, food company Nissin released a video mashup of the new Suiyoubi no Campanella music video with a commercial for their curry. The resulting clip is colorful and humorous. Check out both videos after the jump!
