On December 31 at 11:45 PM, CDTV will air this year’s edition of its annual New Year’s Eve special, CDTV Special! New Year’s Eve Premier Live 2015→2016. The first set of performers was recently released, and now the second set has been revealed. It includes the likes of E-girls, Perfume, and Hoshino Gen. See who else will be performing with them after the jump!
This New Year’s Eve Japanese television station NHK will be airing its annual year-end music special Kohaku Uta Gassen from 7:15PM until 11:45pm that night. Late last month we reported on the list of acts which would be attending the event this year, but now the complete song list for this year’s show has been published online.
The set list for the night consists of a combination of hit songs from this year such as Gesu no Kiwami Otome.’s “Watashi Igai Watashi Janai no” and Nishino Kana’s “Torisetsu”, classic tracks like Ikimonogakari’s “Arigatou” and REBECCA’s “FRIENDS”, and medleys from popular acts like Arashi and X Japan.

NEWS’ first single release in 2016 is a double A-side single titled Hikari no Shizuku/ Touch. “Hikari no Shizuku” is a support song that gently shines a light on the troubles and doubts of young people, whereas “Touch” is a light, pop love song. Both songs show NEWS’ refined “classic style”. The single will be released on January 20.
“Hikari no Shizuku” will be used as the theme song of the upcoming Fuji TV drama “Kasa wo Motanai Aritachi wa”. The drama is based on the short story collection novel of the same name written by member Shigeaki Kato and will star Kiriyama Renn, Sakata Masanobu, Adachi Rika, Watanabe Mai, Takeda Rena, Minamisawa Nao, Raita Ryu, and including Kato himself. The drama will have four episodes and will air on January 9, 16, 23 and 30 (Saturdays, 23:40 – 24: 05).
Single covers and tracklist were also released. NEWS performed “Hikari no Shizuku” for the first time during FNS THE LIVE last December 16, along with “weeeek”. Check out the single details and the group’s performance of the song below.
Character visuals and the first teaser trailer for Assassination Classroom ~Graduation~, sequel to the first Assasination Classroom movie, are out. The preview introduces the additional cast as previously reported. Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari, who is voicing Koro-sensei for the live-action films, will play the God of Death. Narimiya Hiroki is cast as the scientist Yanagisawa Kotaro and Kiritani Mirei will play as Yukimura Aguri, the former adviser of Class 3-E. Narimiya and Kiritani will play their characters in a flashback scene that shows how the the God of Death turned into Koro-sensei.
Hey! Say! JUMP’s Yamada Ryosuke will reprise his role as the hero Shiota Nagisa. Additional visuals of the characters are also released, which also features Nagisa with his killing teacher Koro Sensei amidst a backdrop of cherry blossoms. The film will open on March 25, 2016. Advance tickets went on sale last December 19 and the first 50,000 people to purchase will receive an exclusive clear file with the said image.
Aside from the new characters, the teaser also gives a glimpse of a fight scene between Nagisa and Karuma (Suda Masaki). Check out the teaser trailer and latest stills below.
Today, American radio syndicator National Public Radio (NPR) released its top 10 picks for global music for 2015. Featured on the list was Sakanaction’s “Shin Takarajima.” Not only did the song receive attention, but so did its music video.
