Asian entertainment channel GEM is holding an online call to search for talented individuals in Asia who can sing in Japanese. The winner of the search will represent GEM in Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV)’s singing competition show I Can Sing in Japanese! in Tokyo next year.
Broadcast since 2011 in Japan, the prestigious program has attracted applicants from all around the globe, including Denmark, Spain, and even Jamaica. The show is a platform for aspiring non-Japanese singers to showcase their talents on a national stage, with some of its past participants even going on to make professional debuts. The panel of judges have ranged from veteran singer Akiko Wada to legendary producer Tetsuya Komuro. SMAP leader Masahiro Nakai and Yukari Nishio serve as the host for the show. Incredible singing talent aside, viewers can also expect to be astounded by the impressive sight of non-natives belting out pitch-perfect Japanese tunes. Some past winners from Asia include Singapore’s Jeremy Teng, Indonesia’s Fatimah Zahratunnisa and Michael David Bodin from the Philippines.
E-girls have revealed the music video for their latest catchy tune “All Day Long Lady”. The song will be included on their upcoming studio album E.G Crazy due out January 18th, 2017.
The video shows the girls getting ready for another busy day at the office, performing an impressive dance routine in-between mundane office tasks. Of course the colors are also very heavily saturated, you simply cannot have an E-girls pv without THAT! The pv ends with the girls sitting at their desks daydreaming, leading into a short preview of another new song “HARAJUKU TIME BOMB”.

From December 8 – 11, this year’s Grand Prix Final took place in Marseille, France. This was the final event in the International Skating Union’s 2016 – 2017 Grand Prix Series. Japan sent 3 skaters to this competition and each one won a medal, each a different color.
Yuzuru Hanyu won the men’s portion of the Grand Prix Final for the fourth year in a row with a total score of 293.90. He is the first skater to win the Grand Prix Final four years in a row. Yuzuru’s short program was given a score of 106.53, the best of the night, 6.77 points ahead of Canada’s Patrick Chan. This is also Yuzuru’s best short program score of the season. Although he had to slightly correct a landing on his opening quad loop, he was clean on his quad salchow and triple toe loop. Even coach Brian Orser was dancing along to the routine beside the rink as the crowd got increasingly louder. “This program can’t be completed without the audience,” Yuzuru said through a translator afterwards. “When I got out on the ice this morning I felt really comfortable. I feel like my body was well rested.” Yuzuru was probably the only one not totally impressed. “My skating skill can still be improved and I can improve my jumps,” he said.
This week’s guests were Inoue Sonoko, NICO Touches the Walls, and Kanna Chise.

The audition was eventually restarted in June. Finally after nearly a year since it originally began members were officially selected to become the 13th generation. The two new girls were chosen from Hello!Project Kenshuusei (H!P’s training program) Kaede Kaga, and Reina Yokoyama. Kaga and Reina were revealed for the first time at the famed Nippon Budokan venue during Morning Musume’s latest tour “Morning Musume. ’16 Concert Tour Aki ~MY VISION~”
