On “Shibuya Day”, celebrated on April 28th, ‘Shibuya Sky Festival’ was held in the district that has borrowed its name to the special day. At the event, models of reborn, now online-only magazine ‘egg’ gathered together to celebrate the fun parapara culture – announcing a single and a model audition in the process!

It was announced on April 28th that AKB48’s Niigata sister group has finished auditioning girls for the second generation. Through the process, 19 girls were chosen to form the new generation.

For the first time, 48G held the audition jointly with local city officers: the auditions were carried out in collaboration with Niigata City Migration Promotion. Niigata’s mayor Akira Shinoda participated as a judge. The goal of the collaboration was to find girls who could promote Niigata, appropriately conveying the “easy to live, brimming with charm” attributes of the city.

Further details of the chosen girls will be officially released later, as their parents are yet to sign all the necessary documents. However, fans have identified 11 new members through photos, messages and earlier Showroom campaigns. According to current information, the accepted members include previous draft event applicants.

On April 27, AKLO will release two new songs, “Getter” and “Super Chingon.” Both of these songs are part of his new mixtape series, “MIXTAPAS.” This series marks AKLO’s return to the world of mixtapes, a place he last visited in 2010 when he released his mixtape “2.0.” The “MIXTAPAS” series will be available via free download, Spotify, and YouTube.

“Super Chingon” is of note because it marks the first time that AKLO has rapped in Spanish. Born to a Mexican father, AKLO spent part of his childhood in Mexico.

Another new ALKO song that has yet to be released, “Dirty Work”, serves as the theme song for the TV Tokyo drama “Smoking.” On July 27, “Smoking” will be available on Netflix worldwide.
