This week, Seiko Oomori will be releasing her highly anticipated new album, KUSOKAWA PARTY. This weekend, she dropped not one, but 2 music videos. The first being for GIRL’S GIRL and the second for 7:77 (a song literally dedicated to her touring teddy-bear, Nana). Both are pretty wild, fast paced tunes, that are quite the polar opposite to all other songs we’ve heard in lead up to the new album. Watch them both below!
This week, GOT7 topped the Hot 100 single chart with their new single “THE New Era.”
Keyakizaka46 topped the Hot Albums chart with their new album “Hashiridasu Shunkan.”
BLACKPINK topped the Streaming Songs chart with their single “DDU-DU DDU-DU.”
Yonezu Kenshi retook the top spot on the Download Songs chart with his single “Lemon”, topping the chart for the 12th non-consecutive week.
Suchmos topped the Download Albums chart with their new mini album “THE ASHTRAY.”
We’re back with this week’s edition of Oricon Flashback. This is where we look back on what topped Oricon this week 5, 10, 15, and 20 years ago. Think of it as a way to reminisce and learn about the past of Japanese music.
On July 14, TBS will Ongaku no Hi 2018. The first set of acts performing on the show was previously announced and it includes the likes of Utada Hikaru, EXILE, Perfume, DA PUMP, Daichi Miura, and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
Several new acts have been added to the lineup! Ken Hirai and Little Glee Monster have been added. Tsuchiya Tao has been added to the lineup as part of the Cheerdan Members who are performing with Sambomaster. See who else was added below!
Today, SKE48 released a statement on their site saying that member Jurina Matsui will pause her activities. She has not been in the best condition for a while, and has taken a break from some activities. Now however, she will take a break from all SKE48 and 48 group activities to seek medical treatment. This includes the South Korean reality show Produce 48.
Some sad news to report on a story that came out a few months ago. Nakao Shota of the pre-debut LDH group FANTASTICS has succumbed to his fight with stomach cancer. He passed away at 7:23 AM JST on July 6. He was 22 years old.
Shota halted his activities back in March to focus on his illness.
The members of FANTASTICS have left comments on the group’s site. One of the group’s leaders, Sekai, said Shota has always lived in the group’s hearts and will continue to do so. FANTASTICS will continue to believe in Shota and will shine as nine souls, just as they had before his passing.
