This past week instrumental jazz trio PRIMITIVE ART ORCHESTRA released their third studio album “Artifact.”  Their first such release since 2015’s “Qualia,” “Artifact” includes ten new songs from the group, among them a cover of Henry Mancini’s “Moon River.”

In support of the record’s release, the band have published a pair of music videos for its opening tracks “Autumn Lover” and “Gardenia” to their label’s YouTube channel.  These PVs center around the trio’s performance of each song, interposing these shots with visuals meant to pair well with the orchestral feeling the tracks evoke.

Up-and-coming singer/songwriter Seiya Matsumuro has revealed that he will be releasing his debut album on October 31st.  Titled “City Lights,” this record will include his previously released tracks “Maibyou, Kimi ni Koishiteru,” “Kitto Ai wa Fukouhei,” “Shoudou no Fanfare,” and “Kurage,” plus seven new songs for a total of 11.

Ahead of the album’s release date, a digest which previews all of the included album tracks has been uploaded to Matsumuro’s YouTube channel.

Controversy hound the new drama “Chugaku Seinikki (Junior High School Diary)” starring Arimura Kasumi. Even prior to broadcast, its theme of forbidden love story between a female teacher and a junior high school student is met with criticisms such as “this feels bad” and “creepy”. Arimura plays the teacher while 19 year old rookie actor Okada Kenshi plays her student. However, since he is tall and grown up in appearance, he does not look like a junior high school student. It is said that the role was given to the 19 year old actor because production cannot really appoint a junior high school student.

Hot on the heels of last week’s “MARS DRIVE”, m-flo is releasing another digital single on October 10, “Piece of me.” The song has a feel good 80s vibe. “Piece of me” is the theme song for the new LDH drama / movie “PRINCE OF LEGEND.” m-flo recently released a lyric video for the song, which can be seen below, along with the digital single’s cover!
