This week, Matsuri nine. topped the Hot 100 single chart with their single “Uchoten Shooter.”
TWICE retook the top spot on the Hot Albums chart with their album “#TWICE2”, topping it for the second non-consecutive week.
Aimyon topped the Streaming Songs chart for the 12th consecutive week with her single “Marigold.”
back number retook the top spot on the Download Songs chart with their single “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”, topping it for the third non-consecutive week.
YZERR topped the Download Albums chart with his debut solo mixtape “Rich or Die.”
It has been a long wait for fans, with much speculation, but finally Shiina Ringo has finally announced details for her long awaited new album, entitled ‘Sandokushi‘- a play on the Buddhist term ‘Sandoku’ referring to three poisons that poison the heart of man (desire, ill will, and ignorance), the ‘Shi’ meaning ‘history’.
Soulful songstress Miliyah Kato has announced that she is currently pregnant and married to a non-celebrity man.
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to all of those who have taken care of me,” Kato wrote on her official website. “I will do my best to build a life full of love, both in the world of music and at home, so I hope you all will keep supporting me in the future.”
Music group WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA has simultaneously released a new digital 6-track EP entitled YAKUSHIMA TREASURE and a 7-part documentary with YouTube Originals entitled Re:SET that details their new work’s creative process.
The documentary touches on the past of KOM_I, the singer and performer of the group, her inspiration, collaborators and her several trips to Yakushima, an island in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, which inspired each track on the new EP.
On March 3, mitsume will release their fifth album, “Ghosts.” This is the band’s first album since June 2016’s “A Long Day.” The album will include the previously released songs “Esper” and “Sedan”, as well as nine new songs. Some of the songs on “Ghosts” see mitsume moving towards a more complex sound. One such example is the song “Namerakana Hibi”, which the band recently released the music video for.
